Sorry if there's already been a thread about this, I couldn't find one with search.
Are there any other gaming podcasts you listen to? What are they? I didn't listen to any before the Idle Thumbs podcasts started, but lately I've also been listening to Brainy Gamer , which is more serious but the guests (including Hot Scoops) often have really interesting things to say. Occasional poor ...
I apologize for seeming really opportunistic, but I think you'd do pretty good checking out a website I write for called CastMedium , where we do weekly recaps of lots of video game podcasts.
If I had to make a few quick recommendations, I'd say you should definitely check out the Giant Bombcast, Drunken Gamers Radio and A Life Well Wasted, which are some of my favorites among Idle ...
The Giant Bombcast, Out of the Game, and a Life Well Wasted (if that counts) are the three others that I actually look forward to. Other than that I listen to stuff like Rebel FM, Geekbox, and the Gamespot podcasts, but they're more for noise at work than anything else. I get really annoyed at the people on Geekbox quite frequently, and possibly to an irrational degree, so I've been avoiding it ...
The RPS Wireless show is a pretty good listen. It's the podcast from the fine gentlemen at Rock, Paper, Shotgun. The sound quality can be cruddy sometimes. Maybe it's just because I'm a stupid colonial, but I really can tell any of the dudes apart. I still think it's worth a listen despite my whining.
Retronauts is pretty sweet if you're into old games, even if sometimes Jeremy Parish's ...
I enjoy the Rock Paper Shotgun podcast, partially in spite of and partially because of its incredibly lo-fi nature. It's just two British guys talking into a microphone about PC games for an hour or so. I like it.

Heck it's not just about PC games, sometimes they'll get distracted by a dog that walks...

Side Note: Who is Luke Smith? I know who all the other Out of the Game guys are, but I'm not at all familiar with him.
He's a former-1UP-editor-turned-Bungie-employee.
Speaking of, the Bungie Studios podcast doesn't release new episodes frquently or regularly, but it's a good listen when ...

I generally find podcasts where everyone is in the same room to be vastly superior to ones where the people are talking over Skype or whatever. If nothing else, it dramatically reduces the amount that people talk over each other.
I would say you're right most of the time, but some pull it off ...

I like A Life Well Wasted, Out of the Game and Talkradar when I can. Used to listen to the Giant Bombcast, but it really pales in comparison to Idle Thumbs (it was ironically GB that led to me checking this one out with Brad in Episode Six). I'll have about two and a half hours combined travel time each day when I start uni next week (it's only ten miles away, but bussing to Aberdeen takes a ...
Sorry I didn't make it last night. I found my car had been hit while I was in work some time yesterday, with no details left by the person that did it. So I spent half an hour in the local police station reporting it just before Grand Thumb Auto was due to start. Understandably, I wasn't really in the mood for crashing cars after that... __________________ Incredibly hyperbolic, if not occasionally correct - ign.com T witter / X...
Quote: Wrestlevania : The forumites over at selectbutton have started an interesting gaming podcast. I've been listening to this podcast and it's great, but what the hell happened to selectbutton.net? It seems to have vanished into thin air. __________________ You're the worst! As a relative newbie to the community, I don't know how well I'd fit into a podcast, but I'd be interested to try it out nonetheless if I'm wanted. Either way, I'll try to make it to GTT on Tuesday.
After going through the Hardcore History podcast I tried Dan Carlin's other podcast; Common Sense with Dan Carlin, It's like Hardcore History but about politics and current events. I found it quite enjoyable. However whether you like it will probably depend on your political viewpoint, and since Carlin's politics bypass the typical right/left divide I have no easy means of summing up what his opinion is. If you're...
Speaking of Rebel FM, I'll listen to the Game Club episodes if they're on something I'm interested in. It was quite interesting to hear some impressions on Half-Life 2 and the episodes in that format. I generally don't bother with the main show any more, though.
Quote: miffy495 : I'm assuming that it's much harder than it looks, and if I end up being a part of a thing it will probably be terrible. That said, if we want people to say a thing, I can say a thing. It's like Jake 2.0! I made some podcasts with a guy (plus guests) I know online from about October last year to March-ish this year with some sporadic ones since then, but it was actually surprisingly easy. I found that a...
Quote: Patters : 4 episodes and 2 B-sides. Whereas the Hollywood Saloon has 38 " standard " episodes (of at least an hour each, often much longer), 12 " special editions " (which tend to be in-depth movie reviews, at least an hour) and 12 " shots " (which are 30 minute mini-episodes/rants on a given subject - and what they tend to be releasing at the moment - three new episodes just this...
Quote: Wrestlevania : Can it be "donkey cock" please? We need to establish our own memes. On that note, memes more often than not irritate the hell out of me. If this happens, can we please try to avoid stuff about wizards, boosting, or the like? I actually like things like "seg" as they are more like legitimate additions to the vernacular than memes in themselves. Much like "abilitease"...
Quote: Wrestlevania : Having skimmed this thread yesterday, I really liked the sound of A Life Well Wasted . And I'm glad it caught my attention because I listened to the latest instalment on my drive into work this morning and was amazed. It's brilliant, from the people interviewed to the themes covered to the quality of the music and general production. Really, first class stuff. Made me think of the sort of radio documentaries...
Started to subscribe to you all on itunes finally. I'm... Started to subscribe to you all on itunes finally. I'm shocked by how many podcasts are shows that talk about other podcasts! Five I think.
