I started out with the ACE .22 then picked up a 45 slide chrome barrel & blu bushing and stuff from shotgun news years ago. Back then a gun store owner I delt with did some smithing work. he said he fitted the slide add the adjustable triger beaver tail and made sure it was a ok. Is it going to be hard to do the same again if I want to? thinking maybe a 9mm or 380 might be fun. Is it 100%...

Thanks that is what I have for 45 every thing the weak part of the 22 top end was/is the stamped steel ejector but may have been not right when new. I have had zero problems with it working right with the standard vol rnds. Maybe I should have not said that

Sounds like you want a Springfield Armory Omega. Then, yes - your are a barrel, mag, and recoil spring away from taking a 45 to 9mm to 38 Super to 10mm. I have one. Fun gun. However, due to the extractor/ejector system on the 1911 (and just about all the other pistols), you cant simply do that. Cheers

9mm 1911's can be made to work, but I don't think .380 has enough oomph to cycle a 1911 or enough length. .38 Super is the ideal mid bore 1911 cartridge.
