For years now i have been reading threads on gateworld, reading but never posting, so today i felt like i should make my first post.
While browsing through some sci-fi forums i cam across a thread which had been turned into a poll and they question was as follows
"What direction do you think Stargate should take?
1) A Stargate sequel to the original film version only
2) A Stargate ...
1. Too expensive, and not a large enough of an audience. A TV movie or mini series would make more economic sense.
I like the idea of seeing the sequels. I haven't gotten around to reading the books yet, but it would be interesting to see the direction they would have taken the story.
2. No, no, dear god no. Too many inconsistencies, it would be really cheezy and forced to bring them together...
i only saw like 2 inconsistencies in the film
1) the stargate looks different
2) Ra originally is a scrawny human and not a snakehead.
it would be cool to see a tv movie or sumtin that tells us how RA found that scrawny human, maybe an Asgard?

It wasn't so much ...
There's really no chance of there ever being any Devlin/Emmerich sequels. Every so often Devlin likes to stamp his feet and make noise that he's going to do it, largely to keep his name out there as best I can figure, but they don't have the rights to do it anymore. The people that hold the rights are doing SG-1/SGA/SGU. That is what the franchise is and will continue to be, and is ...

That wouldn't work - the reasons for the differences between the movie and SG-1 are ...
Everyone liked the movie to some extent, some loved it, some bit lukewarm to it. Regardless, everyone now loves SG1 and/or SGA (if not then what the heck are you doing on Gateworld??) and some have hinted they would like to see what Dev/Emm would do if they finished off their trilogy.
Would you be that curious if they did finish their trilogy and for a variety of reasons it essentially ...

I for one totally want to see that. Gee some posts are taken far too literally. Of course...

Holy broad strokes, Batman. I liked the original movie, I love SG-1, I think Atlantis is mediocre at best. And I'd still...

Well let me first say that I think it's great we can all discuss our opinions on an issue like this. It's obvious that we all love Stargate we just see things differently but I respect everyone's point of view. For example, the fact that the stargate only goes to one place, and...

I watched the Special Edition, directors cut the other day so this whole topic is kinda fresh in my mind. Anyway,...
I think the problem with the stargate franchaise thus far is the SG1/SGA team always win. They experince minor inconviniences but really all they amount to is a bunch of red shirts dying. The strongest case for this was when carson died. they brought him back of corse with a good stoyline but still it basicly means that no matter how hard it gets for the main charachters they will always win in the end. that ways one of the big problems with...
