I have read so much on here I'm only more confused. I'll be shooting Open and I don't think I can get the Saiga in CA. I like the benelli but the cost is pretty high and I have heard they kick pretty good. I'm leaning towards the 1100 because of parts and less kick. I really like the FN-SLP but I have yet to find speed loading parts. I have a bad back so I'm concerned with the fatigue of ...

jtischauser, Some good points you have when is comes to the kick Let me add that its not the kick during the mathc that I'm worried about its my back after the match or I could be out of luck on the second day of a two day or longer match.

I shoot open and if there was a speedloader assist made for the SX2/3 platform I would be running a Winchester or FN. Given that one isn't available you are right in narrowing down your choices to the 1100 or a Benelli. IMO the remington offers too many challenges with respect to reliability and maintenance for our sport. Yes there are a few guys who run them but they generally work ...

As far as I know the State of California classifies the Saiga 12 as an assault weapon, thus depriving the people of yet one more option for Open Class Shooters

I just could not remember if was any centerfire or is was stated as any centerfire rifle. Thanks for the input Dave...
My thoughts on your questions, FWIW: Is there a speed loading system for the FN that I could be competitive in Open? Not that I'm aware of, short of something custom. I may look at modifying an Arredondo loader chute for use on the SX3 or a SLP for use in open. Looks like with a little delrin shim work, one could be made to fit either gun. Does the benelli really kick that much? ...
There is a non pistol grip saiga available in CA. Not a fan so I won't reccomend one. They don't work reliably without basically rebuilding the entire thing and then that doesn't always work either. 1100's. I shot one for 13 years and loved it. I guess I got a good one as it was very reliable. All the Bennelli guys gave me crap but it was way more reliable then most Benelli's. Sorry but I ...
Well I'll be shooting my first 3 gun match this weekend and my buddy is letting me use his M2 so I'll see how I like it and make my choice then. Either way I think it's going to be the Benelli or the FN-SLP. If I go with the FN-SLP I'll just be slow until someone make a speedloader of mod for it. Maybee I'll make the mod This post has been edited by werewolf45auto : Sep 7 2009, 10:29 AM

Seems like every 1100 I saw at the Kentucky State 3-gun had problems of some sort. Some owner-induced, some breakage. Benellis just seem to run, I know my Benny Hill-built M2 runs great. I think it likes to be dirty, more than it does clean. Don't shoot magnums, Benny lightened the bolt so it shoots 2-3/4 dram stuff very well. Use the shims and adjust the stock to fit you, that's the best way to counter recoil. I also shoot a light,...
There is a place called PRK arms in Fresno that will sell you a legalized Saiga 12. Here is the link: http://www.prkarms.org/index.php?option=co...p;limitstart=15 Hope this helps Z
I have two 1100s that are as reliable as any Benelli I have owned. They are much softer shooting also. If you open the gas ports on the 1100 barrel and clean it between matches you won't have any problems with it. Always run the 1100 well lubed.
