Additionally, it seems that a further battery of reasons - such as deliberate monetary inflation, excessive warring well beyond your own borders, steady moral and social decay, monetary taxation and direct requisitioning, over-immigration, excessive greed and corruption in both business and politics, the rise of Christianity as well as the the loss of agricultural land given over to the ever-...
two questions
what do you personally see as the moral and social decay part of the poster's essay?
and what about the loss of agricultural land to the aristocracy?

"I'm frightfully embarrassed. Serving salmon with botulism in it is social death!"

when taken out of the context, yes all those things are similar.
But the way things work now and the way they worked during the Roman empire are two different things.
Driving a motorcycle into a wall at 50mph and driving a tank into a wall at 50mph, have a lot of parallels too, that doesn't mean the results are going to be the same.

Well, *I* don't, but there is no shortage of people lamenting the moral laxness of today's youth in particular; how contraception and abortion have resulted in complete (and completely destructive) irresponsibility and promiscuity; how "socialism" is threatening this country's foundational "stand-alone ...
It is a historical truth that the most advanced and artistic cultures have been those in which Democracy has been virtually non-existent or strictly limited in scope.
In fact, most were absolute dictatorships or family-based monarchies.
Sad, but true. Which I suppose means that permitting the under-educated and ignorant too much of a say in affairs of state leads inexorably to dumbed-down ...
Interesting. I do own "The Life of Python", where the surviving lads get together (and even do some sketches - including Carol Cleveland! - which sadly aren't *that* funny, but that's OK). There's also an interview with the five surviving members, and Chapman's ashes, which inevitably get spilled over everyone ... have you seen that one? Is it better than that? I read an article on cnn.com where Terry...
Y'know, it's churlish of me to diss MoL, isn't it. Though I might not be all that fond of every last bit of it, it's still the last totally Python film, meaning with all the lads in attendance. For that alone, I should be grateful. And (natch) I own it on DVD. Speaking of that, have you seen/purchased "Monty Python: Almost The Truth" DVD? I'm just now watching it and I have to say it's beyond...
Yeah a type-o..but ten brownie points for you, if you like. It don't matter with all the logical fallacies you have made on this thread there is no worry that you will ever catch up.
I see the loss of farms, especially family farms, too, but I think it has more to do with government subsidization policies and Americans general disinterest in "where the food comes from" than aristocracy, even if aristocracy is taken to simply mean wealth. I thought your op implied your agreement with his entire post. Reach out your hand, if your cup be empty if your cup is full, may it be again
it does help to update beliefs with the current events; although I'd be careful about suggesting that to christians, because then wouldn't they all be Pentecostal, I dont' think anyone wants that
Well considering that 45 years ago it was constitutional for states to pass laws banning the use of contraceptives and the fact that religious identification is on the whole is decreasing and the fact that, using Democracy, more people have become enfranchised in this country than at any point in its history, I'd say that pointing out that abstinence only education exists hardly goes far enough in proving the OP's outlandish thesis....
