I'd like to get some critique on my new essay. It's a response to Richard Carrier's "Thallus: An Analysis". So far, I've found one response to it and that I have found on Tektonics...not too good of an article. If you're at all familiar with Carrier's argument he basically puts Thallus in the 2nd century, aside from the common place of A.D. 52, and thus no eyewitness to the darkness at the ...
YES! It's about time I saw a critique of Richard Carrier's "Thallus: An Analysis." That essay on Carrier's blog caused me some distress with doubts and questions on the authenticity of the Bible. I have not read your critique yet, I was just glad to see Carrier's blog has been answered. Thank you.
Yeah, his article also caused me great distress. One thing I think I realized though is that Carrier almost attempted to "intimidate" his audience into thinking his argument was solid. Upon further review, the arguments themselves are poorly researched, sometimes contrary to eachother, and have not been recognized by mainstream scholarship. http://randiss.blogspot.com/2007/08/thallus-part-1 ....
It appears to me that Richard Carrier has an axe to grind with Christianity, for some unknown reason. Perhaps he lets his bias skew his research, which is common for many skeptics. Also, could you site some of Gary Habermas' papers on Thallus? I would like to see what he wrote on the subject as well. Thank you and take care. Brandon Marone
I know I have read some of his material on Thallus but can't seem to find it--one of those obscure hidden internet articles. To the best of my knowledge, Habermas has not dealt with Carrier's assertions directly. It's unfortunate that since Carrier wrote this so long ago that I have been the only one to deal with it in any sort of great detail (don't rely on J.P. Holding's article). Habermas ...
I think Mike Licona may be a better source than Habermas concerning ancient text, no? I think Mike was actually with Habermas on that radio show you mentioned. IT was good. Carrier did not make a good impression on me, he sounded more like one of those guys that say we don't need a military (you know, the ones in San Francisco). Nonetheless, I don't reject "unpublished" material as much as some ...

Thanks, I've been waiting for someone to post a rebuttal to Carriers essay on Thallus. I just wish i could read part 1, the link doesn't work for me.
