Me and my family are going to book for august 2010 and cannot make up our minds which resort to book, Any suggestions or comments are welcome. There will be me and the wife and 2 kids aged 8 and 11. We love disney and have stopped on site before but it has always been the all star resorts (movies and music). We intend to take up the dining plan also so any recommendations on eating places are ...
I have stayed at both.. but I like the bigger rooms that OKW has. It seems quieter and it's got a certain charm that Saratoga, while being just georgeous, just does not have.
I will add that A lot of my friends who have kids your age LOVE the Boardwalk. REally I dont think you can go wrong anywhere

Depends on your likes again.
Character dining ?? Buffets ??
We like "Chef Mickey's," "Le Cellier", "Cosmic Rays" for counter service in the MK..They have a Fixings bar ...
Thanks thedisneysmith, we love the character dining. We have done breakfast and dinner at crystal palace and the breakfast in Animal kingdom, cannot remember the name of the resturant. I think we would do a mix of both as my son is really picky with food so the buffet style suits him to a t.
This year we had a meal at Boma at akv and it was fantastic !!
Are you looking for a studio? At OKW, you will have 2 queen beds. At SSR, you will have 1 queen bed and 1 double sofa sleeper. With 4 people, I would pick OKW for the 2 real beds. A 1 bedroom both would have a king bed and a queen sofa sleeper in the living room but again I would pick OKW because the rooms are much larger.
I have stayed at both several times each. I love them both and its hard for me to pick for myself or anyone else!
For a studio for a family, I do agree an OKW one is a bit better. The two beds are nice although my family likes the bathroom set up of an SSR studio much better (sink separate from the rest of the bathroom, whereas OKW studio bathrooms are all in one).
SSR units are ...
Great Question and I have been wondering the same thing! We are staying in a 2 BR villa. Is there a big difference in size between Saratoga and OKW? Thanks! I have Saratoga booked now, but OKW is still available. There will be 7 of us so any extra room is a bonus!
Definitely pick OKW if you are wanting a 2 bedroom villa. Yes, SSR's rooms are a bit newer and fresher but the difference in size and accommodations in the 2 bedrooms cannot be compared. We did 6 adults at both and at OKW, all6 of us could sit on the balcony and eat or sit inside at the table and play cards. Not possible at SSR.
Hi, my family and I went in Aug. 2009. We had a 1-bdrm at OKW and loved it. We went to SSR to look around, and although it was very pretty it was sooo crowded! It's a much larger resort. Also, the rooms at OKW are bigger, more closet space, etc. So, admittedly, I am biased, but I vote for OKW. As a matter of fact, we've already planned our next trip for in the next few months and we're ...
I vote for SSR because of the better amenities like more food options, zero entry pool (i have younger kids so this appeals to me more) and the fresher, newer rooms. We like to walk or take the boat to DTD.
I vote for OKW because of the quiet, larger rooms. Plus it is the least expensive of the DVC's which is also a plus.

We haven't stayed at OKW, but we did stay in a one-bedroom villa at SSR last year. We only had one complaint, the resort was HUGE, and very spread out. We had our car, so it wasn't a big deal, but I would not want to be there without our car. The room was beautiful. My favorite part was the bathroom. It was like two bathrooms. One had a big bathtub and a vanity are a, the other had a standing shower, a vanity area, and a room with a...

I really love OKW much better than Saratoga for a few reasons.. Mostly b/c the rooms are bigger and there is just something about OKW that makes me feel at home there..The only positive for Saratoga for me is that you can walk to DTD everynight which is great when you have kids with you. The only downsides for me with OKW is that its such big resort that you may get a room in the middle of nowhere, or you may get a room w/o an elevator..not a...
MY home resort is SSR, but I have stayed at OKW for the Disney Marathon and I much prefer SSR. It is more modern and there are more options for dining. SSR is also a short walk to DTD vs having to take the bus. The rooms at OKW are a little wron and out dated for my taste and there is only two dining options, one is a small table service shack by the pool and checkin and a seating option. SSR has Artist Palette which is more open, colorful and...
