Rep. Lee Denney (DVM) - R Cushing has introduced HB1332 The Oklahoma Pet Quality Assurance and Protection Act This act requires that any individual that sells 25 dogs a year will required to be inspected and state licensed. In response to IKYman's message "Oklahoma Veterinary Association sponsors animal rights letislation" The interpretation is INCORRECT ! The Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association is not, has not and will not sponsor "animal rights" legislation. It is true that the OVMA has helped Representative Denney research and craft HB 1332. Oklahoma is number 2 in the country in companion dog and cat pet...

Welcome Dr Clay The legislation has been supported and backed by the OKVMA. Dr Clay is part of the Veterinary Medical Examiners Board. The 25 puppies IS a HSUS number, this number has been used since H$U$ got Senator Santorum to sponsor the Pet Animal Welfare Act in 2005. Your facts are a little weak Dr Clay. If you handle 25 dogs a year you will have to be licensed. This would ...

FYI: I am a birdhunter with an affinity for a good birddog. I own 5 and have not bred in years. There are very many things wrong with this bill. One of the main factors of this bill is that it works under the premise of de jure. Instead of being innocent until being proven guilty, this bill makes you guilty until you can prove yourself innocent. the proponents of this bill fully intend ...

Mr. Lucky man The 25 animals came from the AKC and other state regulations! You can spin it any way you want but there is no animal rights agenda! B Clay

The number 25 is most definitely a HSUS position. (from the HSUS website) Currently, Colorado has a statewide law meant to regulate puppy mills, but it does nothing to limit the size of the facilities. Puppy mills can range in size from a dozen dogs to thousands of dogs, often stacked in wire cages, without exercise, socialization, or human companionship. "This legislation will crack down on ...

Recently KOKH Fox 25 ran a story on Bobby Griswald. http://www.okcfox.com/newsroom/top_stories/videos/kokh_vid_2319.shtml In this story, the reporter reveals that Representatives Brian Renegar, and Lee Denney violated the state Constitution by not revealing that they were veterinarians and excuse themselves from the vote on the Equine Dentistry bill. [I]Oklahoma Constitution SECTION V 24 Disclosure of personal or private interest. A member of...

SRU, that was probably me.  The show cattle reference is why I'm not totally FREAKING out over my kids' hogs turning out to be CRAP this year.  One is now lame, and the other is being held to make weight.  Brighter days are ahead, though.  Next year they start showing calves.  Their Paw-paw is a happy happy man. Again, I urge all of you to contact your representatives and ask them to...

i think if this thing goes threw then they will also come a time when they also do it to farm animals. before long we will be taxed and have to have a licence for everything we raise or own.
