On Tuesday morning (6 Oct 2009), I made my way from Tel Aviv to the Golan Heights, my first stop there being at the Odem Mountain (Har Odem) winery, there to be greeted by Alfasi Pere et Fils, first for a tour of the new developments at the winery and then for an extended tasting. Rogov hi, untill recently, Odem Mountain wines came in five series: Alfasi, Reserve, Odem Mountain, Nimrod and Volcanic. You mention specifically that Nimrod has been dropped. What about the Reserve series? The2009 edition of your book lists one 2006 wine in this series (Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot). Is it the last one of the Reserve? Thanks, Alek.

Alek, Hi... To my knowledge, no final decision has been made on whether the winery will be keeping the "Reserve" series or whether that will yield to the "Alfasi". From a personal point of view (whether it matters to those at the wineries or not), I am of the belief that with regard to series, especially with small wineries, fewer is better and that because the public is already thoroughly ...

What about the 2007 Odem Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot Volcanic and the 2007 Chardonnay? I know you have tasted them earlier, just wondering why they were not given for you to taste now? Maybe they are all in the USA David

David, Hi..... I can vouch for only two bottles of each of the wines in question and those are the ones in my cellar waiting for re-tasting. I will sneak the first set in in the near future and will report back. And, should I forget to post, nudge me with an email in a week or so. Best Rogov
