Thread: Odd behavior today...

Started 5 months ago by locutus
I was on a camping trip this weekend and drove home from our carpooling location about an hour ago today. 8 miles of mostly back-roads, 81.7 including full warmup hit in 79 degree temps, *yawn* right? Anyway, I pull into my garage and leave things powered up since I'm just dropping stuff off on the way to running more errands. Around 5-10 minutes later I'm back in the car, I flick it into ...

What was the code on ScanGage or another OEMII reader? Once that is known, this becomes a lot clearer. Sincerely hope it's a hiccup.

Perhaps try a 12V disconnect? I don't know if that is beneficial in a Prius or not but it might clear the state?

The following is all based on my experience in the VW world. Flash gear indicators often seem to indicate a transmission limp mode or error. With your cooling fans running, I'd guess that your car thought your transaxle or something in it was too hot. Is there an MG in there? I'd check the transaxle coolant level, if there is such a thing in the Prius. Also I'd try to check if the ...

Curiouser and curiouser. This morning I was able to start things up normally (though the triangle and hybrid system warning lights were still lit) and after 8 seconds the ICE came on like nothing had ever happened. As much as I hate S1 there was a benefit to it this time - the scangauge connected. I was able to pull off P0A1D and U0293 from the stored codes. I looked them up in the Bentley ...

No weird noises or trouble codes, and aside from terrible FE due to starting at 47% SoC, everything seems OK. I'll keep everyone posted of course, but for now it seems like just a glitch.

Hi Jerad: ___Whooaaa, that was close... ___I would never have the same level of confidence in her until you have those codes checked in detail if/when they rear their ugly head sometime in the future. It sounds more like loose connector within the harness than an electro-mechanical issue??? ___Good Luck ___Wayne

I had those same codes come in 2 times on the 08 when I connected my older scangauge that had some issues. I quit using it on the 08 and the other SG worked fine. Does the backlight work ok on the SG? Cable/connections all nice and tight? Quote: Originally Posted by locutus No weird noises or trouble codes, and aside ...

re-read the thread real quick. Interesting negotiation bug. I guess the XGauge Database should also mention to do the following on the "first connect" of any SGII: Connect the SGIIx with the car OFF Set (for Prius) the Protocol to CANSF (MORE>MORE>MODE) Clear all (or just solicited) XGauges (MORE>MORE>MORE>XGUAGE) by blanking the TXD field Only after all of the above are done, power up the...

It was easy for me to pin down as we were loaded up for a 700 mile road trip. I had forgotten to plug the scan gauge in before we left home so I plugged it in on the fly while still in town. The dreaded red triangle came in almost immediately and the car died. I pulled into a gas station, unplugged the sg, and shut the car off. I scratched my head for a minute (while my wife was beating me). I plugged in the sg and rebooted the car. Read and...

Curiosity got the best of me so about 10 miles from home, I unplugged the scangauge, waited a few seconds and plugged it back in. Same thing happened:Red triangle, ice died, wife screamed. It's only 8:30 and you've already made my day.
