Thread: Occasional chest pain with minor difficulty breathing
Started 9 months, 4 weeks ago by agar2009
I am an 18 year old male with occasional chest pains around my heart and some minor trouble breathing when this happens. It has been happening for the last few years.
The chest pain will happen at random times, it does not seem to matter if i am exercising or just sitting around at my house. It can happen anywhere from twice a week to once every 2 months. The pain will usually last about 1 to...
how would you describe the pain? sharp, dull, crushing or burning?
do you feel your heart racing?
any of the following: sweating, nausea, vomitting, light-headedness?
rate the pain from 1-10 with 10 being the worst pain imaginable
could you point with one finger on your chest where it hurts? if so, does it hurt if you pressed on that point?
I'd describe the pain as sharp
it doesnt feel like its racing
no sweating nausea vomiting or light-headedness
I'd rate it at about a 5-6
yes i could point where it hurts, but it does not hurt worse if i press
I had almost those exact same symptoms for several months. My doctor initially thought I had asthma, but the treatments didn't make any difference. Then he sent me to a cardiologist - no luck there (very healthy heart - I was an avid runner). Finally by trial and error we figured out it was anxiety. I did not have any emotional stress or any other reason that I could find for it, but there it...
Thank you for the advice! I think that seems like a very realistic idea. It has been very stressful for me the last couple years ha. I'll make sure to tell my doctor
please tell us about the duration of the pain, and how is it relieved....
also about the exact site and referral to any other part of your body....
also if there is increase in it's frequency in the last period of time....
if it's preceded by symptoms like sneezing or nasal discharge...

The chest pain could have been from mitral valve prolapse if you are Marfanoid in habitus, and that is something you need to know about.Get it checked out with an echocardiogram. And tell me the results.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I used to get them every few months, though I haven't had one in a couple years. I figured they were harmless, but my Mom talked me into asking my GP about it. He had no idea but didn't think it was serious. Then I asked a cardiologist and he didn't know either. There are lot of people complaining about this online in posts just like this, which is why it's strange so few...
THANK YOU! This is the first time I've heard something that remotely sounds right. I have that pain and doubles me over for about 5 to 10 seconds and then is gone as fast as it came. It scares the living lights outta me and I've been to 3 different cardiologists and they all say my heart is very strong. EKG's EEG's etc. They tell me not to worry, but it's hard when you fell someone just stabbed your heart! I am soo...
