Thread: Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting

Started 4 weeks ago by Bifey
Link How utterly insensitive of him to those killed and their families. I am truly glad I did not vote for him. Obama's Frightening Insensitivity Following Shooting A bad week for Democrats compounded by an awful moment for Barack Obama. By ROBERT A. GEORGE Updated 2:56 PM CST, Fri, Nov 6, 2009 President Obama didn't wait long after Tuesday's devastating elections to...

Gee, I'm surprised the accusation hasn't been leveled that Obama is responsible for the shootings...or maybe it has.

Bifey replied 4 weeks ago
Minn, not that I have seen, but his behavior after the shooting was a disgrace.

I don't find it frightening, or insensitive. The President was finishing a conference that had been in progress. I suppose people will scream from the rafters and say "he should have stopped everything to make remarks then and there," and yes, he could of, but I don't see it as being insensitive to take just 3 minutes to finish what he was saying first.

Mr. D. Don't you know whatever the president does or says is wrong?

Too much was said, and much of it wrong, by the news media in the first few hours. In fact it was into the night before the truth came out about the shooter being wounded and not killed as reported all afternoon. I find no fault with the President handling of the incident. What if he had done the somber moments first and then went into the lighter stuff? I'm sure there would be those who ...

I watched and I wasn't stunned as the writer says I should have been. I did wonder if the people in the room were aware, my guess is that they were not. It was handled as it should have been. This wasn't an address to the nation as a whole, it was an address to the people in the room that the media carried. I guess we should be grateful he wasn't carrying a copy of My Pet Goat.

Frankly, I think the news stations came in a little too soon and he was finishing his previous address. That's how my DH and I took it . We were confused at first, but then realized he was endin his previous talk and not yet starting the announced one about the incident. That appeared obvious to us.

The White House said that he would speak about it prior, meaning before his previously scheduled appearance. He could have addressed the nation before he gave his speech.

Quote: The same can be said for the libs on this board as well, Uh, huh. Apparently you have chosen to ignore the outcies of libs on this board and all around the country on Obama's continuing to keep in place several of Bush's policies that were abhorrent then, and still are....notably FISA, and his foot-dragging on gay rights, the health care public option to name a couple others. The hypocrisy of the Republican party has no...
