NEW YORK (WABC) -- A three-piece suit wearing defendant on trial for robbery bolted from a
Lower Manhattan courtroom this morning, prompting a police search.
Police are searching for 54-year-old Ronald Tackman, who ran from the 12th floor courtroom at 100 Centre Street, according to police.
Tackman was a defendant on trial on trial on a second degree...

Was he on bail? If so....no harm, no foul.
UH no FIVE Robbery indictments History of Escape attempts Career criminal According to the news, a Court Officer thought he was an attorney and released him
from the pens. That's the news report, I don't know if that is accurate. In any case, HARM AND FOUL. So what's the OCA reaction? Don't release
anyone until you see...
As I posted on THEE Rant....12th Floor at 100 is DOC main holding
facility....Court Officers pick up prisoners there and bring them to
courtrooms. Court Officer man other outlying holding pens on the 11Th and
13TH Floors. Quite possible he walked away from DOC and Court Officer had
no way of knowing who he was. Attorneys sometimes visit the bridge on 12.
As I stated, I do not know the details. Media is reporting that a Court
Officer thought he was an attorney and let him go. So we look bad, no
matter what happened.
CBS News is now reporting that he walked out of an "unsecured" holding area, thru a court room, where a Court Officer called him
"counselor" and just strolled out of the building.
So it looks to me like everyone is trying to blame someone else.
If it was a DOC area and was not properly secured, it would not surprise me. They ALWAYS try to blame the Court Officers for their mistakes. I ...
The bottom line is... who signed for the body? If it was one of us, the CO
will probably end up in the office and be a captain one day (remember
vinegar dick ?)
News showed a lot of DOC. They were all outside and suited up. That pretty
much tells me who was at fault. They will still try and blame us like they
always do.

When do you if ever suit up? Its always a who did what and who failed to do ...
Updated info: It seems that the prisoner, who was a known escape risk, was left alone on the 12th floor by Corrections. He discovered his cell door was open, and he just strolled out. He found a staircase, which led to a Court Room. I think at that point he knocked on the locked door, and a Court Officer, thinking he was an attorney visiting a prisoner, let him out. This was 100% Corrections fault, doors left open and high escape risk prisoner...
