Is Total Cholesterol of 240 still a concern when ratio is good? I have HDL 113, LDL 109, Trig 89, Total Cholesterol 240. Normal weight, BMI and BP.  

Replying to: OK ratio but total cholesterol high Total Cholesterol is calculated as follows; HDL + LDL + (triglycerides X .20). Your high HDL level is pushing your total up but keeping your TC ratio in line. A high HDL may be a sign of a failure of an enzyme or an over production of certain proteins. You may want to request an Advanced Lipoprotein Testing to better understand what makes up your lipid profile. Hope this helps, Tony
