Started 1 month ago by boeingcpt
Hey guys, let me start off by saying, I have changed oil before but not in Mercedes. Last night, I decided to change my oil... Put the car on ramps Got underneath Removed 2 panels. Found the Oil Plug, removed it, drained old oil out. Removed Oil Filter, replaced with Purolator filter and 3 new O-rings. Put the filter back on, put the plug back on and filled it with 8.5 quarts of 0...

I'm not an authority on this, but I think you are OK. The low oil indicator (not intended to be the 'you've melted your engine' indicator) did its job. There were a couple quarts left, so you likely had an adequate supply of fresh, high-quality oil circulating through the motor. Hopefully you didn't run the engine to redline along the way, which would have increased the possibility of the pan ...

you should be fine. the one problem i have is running cold water on a hot engine. as it was stated before, as long as the engine did not readline, you should be fine.

Does the Sensor tell you that? I took it to the wash and got it degreased. (Used the cheap stuff from their place) It cleaned it up pretty good, no electrical issues (knock on wood) I've been driving it a ...

I do have a dipstick and it shows just below max. I drove the car a little more yesterday and its not making strange noises or anything. I think im safe. It revs fine all the way up to 6500RPM

You will be good. Your earlier post states that you have a dipstick. Does it show you are over filled? If I where you I would just change the oil again. But if you have the dipstick it should let you know if it is overfilled. P.S. Update your profile so that others will be able to tell what year and model car you have. It will be helpful when trying to provide info.
