Thread: Nuts about Hassan

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by cpwill
Steyn, imo, pretty much has this nailed. Our own timidity is a danger: For the purposes of argument , let's accept the media's insistence that Major Hasan is a lone crazy. So who's nuttier? The guy who gives a lecture to other military doctors in which he says non-Muslims should be beheaded and have boiling oil poured down their throats? Or the guys who say "Hey, let's have this ...

The problem is in punishing an entire group based on the actions of one. There are many Muslims in the armed services who are good honest decent people. To generalize this would be like doing the same to Christians because a Christian blew up a federal building in Kansas. I agree that this guy had warning signs, but I'm not about to label all Muslims as possible mass murderers. There ...

Political correctness and national security are inversely related. I don't think it is arguable that Muslim immigration and open borders don't have an adverse effect on security. One can argue about the magnitude of the effect on security of holding the borders open for cheap labor, immigrants who despise the US, MS-13, Mexican drug cartels, Chinese spies, and so forth, but not that there ...

Steyn hates Muslims, so his opinions need to be taken with a few fat grains. Also, think of him as a more intellectual and erudite form of Ann Coulter--he delights in being provocative, in outraging people. Now, I believe there's a place for polemicists in our discourse. But all their opinions must be decoded (because of the intentional shock value), and so can't be taken at face value.

Here's what another individual says, and I agree, wholeheartedly. Quote: If you were an enemy of America, not only would you fight overseas and develop nuclear weapons (Iran), you would also engage in an even more effective strategy by striking at America's underbelly. This is our most vulnerable region because we now tolerate virtually everything, indulge in political correctness and subscribe to a bogus belief that if radical...
