Looking for a little help here. Beautiful day in the Philly area so I
thought I would go for a ride. Turned the key and nothing. My 2007 K1200S
is always attached to the battery tender when not in use, so any ideas?
This has never happened before and I was hoping for some suggestions before
it gets trailered to the dealer.
My 2007 K12GT was a November 2006 build and, at various times throughout its first 8K miles, exhibited the mid-range flat spot, jerky off-idle fueling and minor hanging idle (~3500 RPM) issues. As part of the ASC upgrade, the original BMS-K ECU was replaced with a BMS-KP ECU and updated software - this took care of everything except the hanging idle. A wild card in this was ...
My 06 KS rattles like hell at startup. It's just short of 20,000 miles. I went to the dealer to complain, and was told that it was "normal for these bikes" WTF? I have complained about the clutch and transmission, as well as surging issues. These seem like warranty issues to me, and I keep getting told it's "normal". So my question is, does A&S get extra credit from BMW for ...
With about 4,000 miles on my PC it had a brain fart last week .
The biggest improvement the PC made in my bike was smoothing out on-off throttle transitions, well last week I was blasting along when suddenly the abrupt throttle was back and it even stalled once .
I checked Power Commanders web site and it said to hook up a lap top and check for a code. I had to borrow a lap top (I don't have ...

Being reminded of how annoying the abrupt throttle was, if I have to do a reset every once in a while it will still be worth it .

Charlie, you ought to do it anyway... I can't tell you how much better this bike is. I only wish I hadn't waited as long as I did to have it installed... To get the expected response from ...

e x a c t l y what i mentioned was the downside to the power commander
has happened to many on other bike boards
yet you will have many like " allikanbe " that so far have had great success
& are totally satisfied
kinda hard having faith in 2 ...
Actually, I had it happen to my bike after the PC install. I turned off the bike and restarted it making sure the bike cycled through it's self test. Bike started right up and no problem at all. I don't blame it on the PC.
The PC is still king.

The K1300x bikes use a bearing setup very similar to this fix. I also changed my "ball end" joints" to Heim joints and really find the shifting smoother overall.
I looked at my camshafts. The place they are breaking is at a machined slot with sharp edges. This is an obvious site for stress risers and a machining fault of BMW's engineering. IMO. Good thing this isn't happening too frequently.

When I bought my '05 K12S, the dealer gave me an additional regular key at no charge because he thought it was so cheap of BMW to supply only one. I believe my '08 K12S came standard with 2 regular keys... don't remember but I did have 2 regular keys for it. My K13S came standard with 2 regular keys and a plastic one...
Bob you have done a 180 on this? Interesting. Royal Purple has always worked for me and it's good for limited slip diffs so I may stick some in my truck. Any high quality synthetic oil will do.
