Thread: Not much to ask

Started 3 months, 1 week ago by Tnbrit
Why don't Harley make a V-Rod,with the following. 1:Good size passenger seat.(VRSCD Sundowner but a bit wider) 2:Mid controls in the same position as my FXD. 3:Preferably same rake as Dyna FXD 4:Pass peg location same as VRSCF. Then it would be perfect for me & the better half,so I could buy one & we'd be happy. Seriously I keep looking at this dressed up F to me it's beautiful...

It takes a fair amount of work (and money) to turn a V-Rod into a decent touring bike, but the end result justifies the effort. My "05 VRSCSE is as comfortable as my Road King Classic was, plus it's almost 200 lbs lighter which makes handling easier. I had to put on a touring windshield, Mustang seat with custom viscoelastic foam, Cyclevisions floorboards, L.A. Choppers pullback handlebars, and...

The goal of the VROD was to bring in the "Young Bucks". So low, lean, and mean was the goal. Unfortunately, HD sucks at personalized sales and customer service, so the younger crowd stays away.

Thanks for the replies.I'm sure the Muscle can do the rides we require,we use a Dyna. Average 6 weeks a year, about 1500miles per week, all 2 up,day trips from & to base(no overnights). The problem is the bike's in the US & we live in Liverpool UK,it's used for Holidays(an advantage of being old) so I have no time for converting it to take a passenger comfortably or changing to Kosman type ...

The V-Rod can be made into proper Ultra Classic style tourer. Only took me 6 years... Even the passenger seat can be made comfortable:

As with any manufacturer of goods they had a target audience. With the V-ROd it was not a grey beard old fart that likes to tool around with his 200 lb SO at 35 mph.

Willie Gs vision was to make it look like a drag bike, that's why the stretched out rake. I also think decreasing the rake would be an excellent idea. I had FXSTC that would out handle a V Rod big time! It was way short of the V rods power though! I've been fighting the urge to cut up my frame but the radiator location is a problem. The neck would have to be stretched and de-raked for the wheel to clear the radiator. It would be...

The R version is pretty close. The location of the ECM and TSM cuts into the space for the seat. The seat could be lengthened by raising it and moving the cushion forward, or by lengthening the seat rearward all the way to the tail light. The bike is so long yet the riding position is small, and if you look at other "normal" touring bikes you see the reason. Their passenger seat is all the way to the rear of the bike, much...
