Thread: Norton Buffalo R.I.P.

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by Trout Voice
I just got the news tonight that Norton had passed away on 10/30/09. Lung cancer that had been diagnosed in Sept. spread to his brain. I was fortunate to see the Buffalo many times. Whether it was with his band, "The Knockouts", or with Elvin Bishop, or Steve Miller Band or Roy Rogers he always put his heart and soul into it. God Bless You Norton and thanks for all the Magical Notes!

I'm not really familiar with his work except the stuff he did with Steve Miller, but it's always sad to hear news like this. RIP.

Indeed, a virtuoso on his instrument. His work on Loggins and Messinas "Same old wine" is absolutely spine tingling. RIP.

That album is a classic, classic album that should've gotten WAY more promotion and airplay than it ever did! RIP. What a tragedy!

I was sorry to hear about this. Norton Buffalo was one of those guys that I remember as a kid, mainly because anytime there was a "Concert Outlook' listing read on Bay Area radio, Norton would usually be playing a gig somewhere. I never got to see him though, and I'm now sorry for that. Joel Selvin wrote a really nice article in the SF Chron after Norton's passing. There were some nice ...
