Believe it or not there are going to be two rock bands playing at a gay bar
downtown tonight.
Live rock bands is something you never see in a gay bar in Dayton.
So this should be interesting!
Heather ... I just found out that one of my faves, The Heavenly States, are
playing SxSW. If you manage to stumble across 'em, give 'em hugs from me,
and tell 'em its about fuckin' time they swam back down under.

I just listened to the three songs they have up on myspace and they
definitely seem worth checking out. It won't happen at their showcase since

They've recently can cancelled our Sunday bus service, but I should still make it out for the Thekla if I start out early enough - which'll probably mean starting out on the beer earlier as well (IMG: style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif )
QUOTE(Martyn @ Sep 25 2009, 06:57 AM) QUOTE being three deep from the stage at a Manics concert is something special... It was! Great mix of old and new and a Billy Bragg moment for good measure. Billy regularly forgets to add or remove the capo. J-D B forgot to change guitars. Took two full days for my ears to recover. Pardon? Big thanks to the Manics for a stellar show, LitUS & family for food , bed and Lucy...
QUOTE(nevski @ Nov 24 2009, 01:50 PM) QUOTE(aquaman @ Nov 22 2009, 11:55 PM) Bit of an odd evening, I went to see the Specials supported by Pama International .........'Doors open at 7pm' Except they didn't, they remained stubbornly closed until 8:45pm with no explaination to the gathering queue that was eventually about a quater of a mile long. On getting in, there was again no explaination...
Editors were great as usual last night, and the crowd absolutely loved them. But it was at a venue I'm increasingly disliking. Unfortunately, I also have a ticket to see Gossip there next week. If you get a good spot in the balcony, it's great, but as mentioned above, that involves getting there early and not going alone or not going to the toilets or bar for the duration. As it was, I missed the two support bands (Wintersleep and...
QUOTE(geoff @ Jun 12 2008, 12:01 AM) Where are they playing? I saw them at Festival Hall in 1981. And at Livid in 1996 (?) The Hordern Pavillion in Sydney. Apparently its a bit of a shite venue but I don't care! Recently I snapped up tickets for Connor Oberst, Carcass and The Faint. I'm still tossing up Ladytron. This will make for a rather varied October methinks.
Cheers. When I looked them up on Youtube, the first clip I came up with was of a song called Lloyd I'm Ready to Be Heartbroken. I thought, any one of these modern beat combos who references Lloyd Cole is gonna be right up my street. And the video is fab. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif )
