Thread: No self control

Started 3 weeks, 3 days ago by hollycerniglia
I have absolutely no self control when it comes to food. I eat larger portions than I should be. If I drive past McDonalds and decide that I want something then I am going to pull in and get what I want. I need help! How can I get some control on my life?

Are you in therapy, Holly? Kelly

In the Army they have "battle buddies". I think you need one. It is always good to come here. But to have someone to call when you are in the moment would be a good idea. Preferable someone local. So you can do things together like exercise or find new hobbies besides eating. Do you go to any local support groups? It would be a great place to find someone who is dealing with the same thing. I ...

Holly, my fellow Tennessean, I agree that therapy can help. It also helps to have a mantra. Mine is usually "I didn't go through all this just to screw it up." Everytime I have a "wrongful" thought concerning food or the program, I say that silently to myself. Others on here have a mantra that is something like "Nothing tatses as good as thin feels." Still, I go to a therapist just...

It might not be a bad idea to make an appointment with your surgeon/doc too. S/he probably needs to know what's going on.

I am so stressed out today. Now is the time that I really want to eat. My 15 y/o told her principle today that she is doing drugs. I spent 2 hrs in his office today waiting for my daughter to come confront me. She was scared to death to even see me. She just got out of a group home a month ago. She was in there for 7 months for running away twice. So with that being said, her caseworker came to the school and asked me to take her for an...

Holly, in most counties there is funding through the mental health board for mental health treatment (which includes substance absuse treatment) for people who do not have insurance. The cost for treatment is based on your income. For instance, right now I pay 27% of the cost of my therapy sessions, and that amount is based on my income. The agency where I go charges $100 per session, so it only costs me $27 per session. To find out about...
