Short DRI @ 28.86, overbought. After much ranging, it took a dump and I covered @ 28.25 on the pivot from oversold for a $253 gain.
Offered 9.15 HOTT. My first inclination was to offer 9.10 which was the HOD and that inclination was the right one, because it hit 9.11 and dropped off nicely. So later I lowered my standards and offered 9.07, which eventually filled. Set a target ...

Set a target @ 8.91, just a bit above the LOD and it filled a couple hundred shares at a time over a two and half hour time frame for a $160 gain.

Ahhh, patience!
Well, you pretty much mastered it.
Me, on the other hand..shorted SWN at 27.60 in the very beginning. Just look what it did later. I got scared again and exited way early. Again.
What am I to do?

I will tell you what to do, but I have trouble doing it myself! When you are shorting in a down market with no good news in sight and your ...

Nice work today....looks like you are cont. to stick to your plan. [/B]

Short ORLY @ 32.70 using market order on open. It hung there a while and I was worried I might end up with serious slippage, but actually got a few cents in my favor once all said and done. I was distracted and missed a nice oversold exit and opportunity to short again. Covered later @ 32.49 for a $106 gain.

Very poor trading this morning, not taking profits properly. The problem is that I have some confusion between wanting to swing trade and wanting to day trade.
LOL! You know what? I (not knowingly) did both yesterday/today!
Let me explain:
Yesterday, I shorted 300 of SWN at 27.60, then covered at 27.55 or so (I was scared as per usual)...only to find...
Mad, you are silly!
Bos, I've been there more than once! Last year I put in a limit order for CLF, canceled the order later and didn't know I got a partial fill before I canceled. I looked at my portfolio several days later and there was CLF to my dismay. It had dropped from my entry price of 101 down to 98 in the meantime and was at 102 and climbing by the time I even knew I owned it. ...
So this is the Doji journal I have been hearing about. Great read and keep up the good work.
Calling it a night and crossing my fingers for ORLY lol - Good Luck

-$395 No trades yesterday. This morning I played with CL in sim from pre-market through the open, really getting into a rhythm with it. As a result though I missed some good live trades in the early part of the day, then had things to do. Returned later wanting to make up for what I missed and thought I?d scalp small moves with larger positions, during that time of day I should know better than to trade. I can?t even describe what I did...
Ok, lesson learned, sounds like a deal. I am missing something................HOW can anyone get a rhythm from the DOM? I missed that class. In todays electronic mkts orders can be dropped in a flash, cancelled/replaced. I would not even consider trading from the DOM. PS: did not trade today, probably not tomorrow either. Next week, maybe trade reports and get refreshed for the new year. Nod, imagine next year you make as much progress as you...
Nice easy day for me. I had alarm wake me up. Saw a profitable setup. Set my targets and stops, went back to sleep. Had a dream that I made money on the trade. Woke up, saw I actually did make money on trade, then went back to sleep. Looking back, saw about 4 possible profitable setups, of which I took 1.
Heh, I was checking ANF as it inched closer to LOD@41.52, but had to go to the bathroom...sohuld have set the order. Or take the laptop with me. Sound familiar? ;) You're back on track, dear. Real happy to see that! Keep'em comin'!
Quote from NoDoji: ...I brought up the L2 for Nov $110?s and it was fantastic, a .01 spread and so incredibly liquid you could move in and out of 100 cars at market if you wanted to... Funny you should meantion that. I had an bid in for 10000 SPY put contracts...and I got them all in a single fill. BANG! This sim trading is EXTREMELY AWESOME!!
Thanks for the reply NoD.. it sound like you are entering your limit orders by clicking on the various levels in the Level 2 DOM.. is that correct? I don't use Level 2.. its always just messed with my mind.. flipping around so fast, etc maybe i should try that method.. i dunno.. i wish i could just draw a line on my chart and right click and choose "buy here" hahaha im more of a visual guy? seriosuly, that would be cool.. put...
(oops, I just realized I posted one of the videos twice ... meant for this to be the third one...) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiXR9ggRdFI&feature=fvw ... And now back to trading.
Hi NoDoji, I would not "hijack" your thread if I was not also trying to assist you as well so I hope this is of some value. Its the LAW OF INDEPENDENT TRIALS and you very well may know of it(many do not especially in vegas where it might be really needed along with some math skills for so many). For those that do ummm.....oh wait, maybe Mr W beat me to the punch and stole my very brillant reply to your journal......oh well, I guess...
