Hey guys
I'm currently trying to cut 40 pounds, but my goal is 5 pounds this month. Currently I'm 190 and 5'9. I go to the gym 3 days out of the week. I currently try and do 30 minute runs before i work out (trail running) and After my work out i will go and swim 28 laps of the pool. After I usually will have a protein shake. I eat fairly Healthy and iv been doing this routine for about 2 ...
Hey,
Good work with settings goals and motivating yourself. First thought off the top of my head is that you are probably doing too much around your workout. If you are doing a 30 minute run you are probably going to be too tired to give it your all during your workout, and therefore won't make progress as quickly as you would like. What I would suggest is moving your running and swimming to the...
Unless you really enjoy cardio, or you need to have endurance for a job related activity, don't do it yet. It's a tool that many tend to overdo at the beginning. Bring it if you absolutely must.
To lose fat simply (Wave_length from BB.com):
1) Meet your protein needs (at least 1 gram)
2) Lift Weights
3) Eat enough to lose weight 1-2 pounds a week (Eating at a deficit but not so much that ...
Your knees will be happier if you avoid any high impact stuff. Running wouldn't be at the top of my list.
If you mean an average of 5lbs a month that shouldn't be that hard. You'll likely do a little better the first part and the loss will slow down later. Don't expect it to be a smooth line .
I disagree with eliminating/minimizing cardio. If you enjoy it and don't have joint issues, I would do it. It burns calories and you will results that much faster. Plus, it'll improve your endurance and also take away the feeling of "being stuck in a gym all the time".
I do agree that diet (what you eat and how much) is the most important factor. You add in strength training 3-4 times/wk and...
I play Sports On Mondays and Thursday so i tend to do a lot of running and cardio. I could swim before the practice. I also could use tuesday and wens day as a work out day and then again Friday. The Do running on Saturday and Sunday?

I agree with all the comments above. Too much running definitely can injure you but that is usually because of a few reasons...

I think that cardio should be treated like a supplement. Just like protein powder. You eat more whole foods than the powder. You don't need the powder, but there is a reason why you add it in your diet. Just like cardio and as BJ stated above for the loss in weight. Hell I lost over 100lbs with doing a 30 minute WALK a couple times a week and doing HIT weight training. Diet is key along with the right source of exercise. I wanted the...
