09 Hemi, changing sparkplugs ?I always do my own and as Dodge need new copper core plugs each 30K miles,I looked at those back plugs(left bank)and wondered....+ anyone try these new Pulstar units ?They sound good, but, then so do multiple ground electrodes and as a plug is only capable of one spark to ground,it will not ...

Yep..no fool like an old fool.I always tell other just what you said.I just was curious.Funny how 2 brothers basically designed the 2 most used plugs.Albert Champion sold his design to GM which became AC and Champion of course is the other big name.I have never liked platinum plugs as I always ask,"If you have any ...

Just run the recommended plug. Believe me, if there was any practical way to make meaningful improvements in emissions, power, or mileage with a sparkplug, the manufacturers would be using them as original equipment. The only performance improvement you're likely to see over a normal plug in good condition is a ...

The only reason the new 4.7 and the HEMI even have two spark plugs per cylinder, is for emissions reasons. If Chrysler engineers thought that they could meet emissions/power standards with a single plug of a specific design instead of a dual plug, don't you think they would have done it?
If a better plug puts out...

That is correct Sir.This is also a good marketing ploy as the racing Hemi's have 2 plugs because they push so much fuel thru these motors(8,000 HP and 3"fuel lines with huge 3,5 gallon per second rates to make this power,BUT, these motors tend to drownd the plugs so 2 more make sense. The second reason is because the ...

Doc: I dont know how to tell you this after that fine explination, but, all Chrysler 3.7,4.7 and 5.7 Hemis do use an copper core plug that must be changed every 30,000 miles. That is why i posted the original question. Changing them in my 4.7 was asnap, but, the Hemi has some way back where an old cripple like me is gonna ...

Tech at the Chrysler store I bought from said that the REP mentioned going to a high quality platinum plug at 30k and rolling another 100k before changing again.Thats the route I'll be going when its time.

That was my reason for having this discussion Hounddog. If it is an approved unit by the engineers at Chrysler,Im for it.Please let us all know the numbers and anybody who recieves info from the mechanics or any reputable source, please share as it sure looks like an old cripples nightmare to me.
Post # 22 Wjere can I see more picture of yer 33 Hemi ? It looks awsum...quench is missing in any Hemi or dished piston. This is the coolest part and provides some turbulance so you probally are correct, but,I am not an cylinder designer and other who frequent these pages can offer much clearer advice.
Post # 17 Every now and then someone does a oil filter study.Cut open and comparison.Fram are always at the bottom of the list in quality.Time after time out of many. Was a post the other day on www.bobistheoilguy.com about seeing a guy in Walmart buy a Fram filter and 5 qts of 10w40 motor oil.The guy watching this was curious to what dinosaur these items were going in.10w40 oil is real old school these days and does not do well in oil...

There is really no performance advantage, but it is a fairly easy...
Post # 14 I use Autolite as well. If I go Platinum which I will, I would use the Autolite Platinum plugs. I put them in my last ram. I've never had problem with champs myself but I have heard others state what you have. I guess its all a matter of preference. I just can't see spending the money on some of these other plugs on the market that are so expensive.

Post # 19 I always use NGK plugs in my 700hp 4 banger. Almost all other plugs I used would only last 2 - 3 weeks tops until I would get break up at high rpms. In my old 4.7 durango, I changed the plugs and put in some platinum plugs. My wife started to complain about some jerking about 6k miles later. Took it to the dealer since it was still under warranty. They said it was because of misfire from the plugs. Plugs are not covered under...
