Carl, Quote: I still find it wild that I can pull up next to a 54 Bertram or a 60' Viking Sportfish like I did this weekend, and the owner comes over to me, gives a compliment on the boat, asks the year and then proceeds to tell me about his experince on the 31. It's happened more times then I can count. Ditto on that comment Carl, that says it all in...

i must also mention sometimes old men enjoy getting a "wisser" from a much larger boat .case in point traveling along side of a 55' viking both heading out the fire island inlet. you have two stone jettys about 3/4 mile apart at the entrance to the inlet and even on a average ocean of 2 to 4' waves in the inlet there could be a series of white water 8 to 10' waves .very scarry to the average ...

Andy, No not fishing the tournament, but if everybody's going to Cobalt's for Dinner, might meet up with ya'll and yak a little bit. DQ Kipp, There were so many boats out there fishing this past Saturday from the Nipple to the Elbow from what I understand you could have walked from boat to boat and had drinks with everybody. It looked like a Tournament was going on but ...

Giff, The July issue of Salt Water Sportsman has an article on page 12 entitled "Ancient Mariner". It discusses dead reckoning and other navigation basics. It is good reading and right on track with your post. Harry

Someone who knows better not to do something, yet does it anyway and suffers or others suffer from it is negligence to me at least. A prime example for me in this point happened Sat morning. I was taking an 80' motor yacht out for a sea trial to check on the corrected engine aglinment I just did. The Maintenance guy...

General Rebuild advice-

If your head is in the V-Berths, you have a Sports Fisherman. If your engines/transmissions and running gear are functional, do the exterior cosmetics first or you won't be in the water by Spring. If you're a gasser, that changes. Want to use it in the Spring, remove the fiberglass gas tank and replace with aluminum (sorry), or you're liable to get stuck mid-season with an ethanol glued engine. Unless you have nothing else to...

One of the way-back-when Faithful, Sonny Morrel, a retired Delta pilot who is dead now, sold his B31 - forget the name, but it was yeallow - to Joel. Sonny attended at least one UVI. Think his engines were near new Cummins that Joel took out, sold to Fred, and replaced with the Yanmars....Sonny told us in great detail about Joel coming down to southwest Florida to sea trial the boat and Sonny was on board, so I'm assuming it all was...
