Just to say I have my new saya!! It looks much better than the original and does not have a big split, which is a massive plus!! Big thanks to: 1-Cut for fetching it for me. Quentin at Nine Circles for doing a brilliant job of fitting it to my sword. I am a happy bunny!!

Awesome! Question: When practicing Iaido do Saya's wear out fast from practice? ( assuming I buy a decently made Iaito ? ) Or can I expect to not have to replace my saya for awhile?

Got to add a caution to Brad's excellent post. Saya do need regular maintenance, but be very careful where you place shims in the koiguchi. A poorly placed shim can put pressure in the wrong area and cause a saya to split. That being said, I still use my twelve year old iaito, with the original saya, semi-regularly.

and why have you started calling yourself "davidg" when the whole wide world now know you as YUGAY...........or have you got a split......................................... personality, you know YUGAY sometime .....just sometimes life is worth the effort....................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

It explains it ... I did wonder why a guy that doesnt study shinkage ryu called himself yagyu... perhaps it sounded cool...
