Thread: What year did Scamp dimensions change?

Started 3 months, 1 week ago by Raya L.
Hi Charlene, There is a thread on bed sizes that you could probably search out. I think it does actually have the phrase "bed sizes" in it. It gives bed dimensions for a number of different trailer brands. For the quick answer, I think the "double" in the Scamp will be about 47" x 77" and the couch/bunks about 26" x 77". The corners round in a bit. As far as I know the Scamp 16 will ...

Charlene, the bed size is a much bigger deal than ceiling height. I'm 6'5" tall, and I do very little standing in a small trailer. The overhead height just isn't a problem, unless hubby is going to do dishes or do most of the cooking. I sleep in one tho... and if I don't sleep well, the whole trip is a bust. The small trailers are a tad tight for my liking... bed size wise. Probably ...

Bed size is to the best of my understanding the same in them all (Scamp's, execpt the customs, may differ) in 16' & 13'. Ceiling change was after the factory fire in 2005. Therefore, anything newer - 2006 and on. I think the longest the bed would be is right at 6' 3", even in a custom. It would be a tight fit. With two in the bed, it is a tight fit. After almost a month sleeping in our 16' ...

The change to the height occurred after the Scamp major fire... January 2006. Here's a couple of topics that may interest you. Click the links: Bed Sizes , there's a couple of good charts Inside Height by Trailer Brand/Model and Year, What can you add to this topic? and lastly (from me) Family Friendly Floor Plans

Thanks for all the quick responses. I think the bed length of a Scamp would be fine for us, but hadn't realized the dinette beds were so narrow. That would probably be a bigger problem for us! Hmmmm, not sure where to go for a solution now. Our family wants something tiny that can just house us and very, very little stuff. Are we the only family of 4 out there that doesn't want to buy all ...

QUOTE (melissab @ Dec 14 2009, 12:26 PM) Maybe someone in the know can post what purpose the step up in the Scamp serves. In my 1988 Scamp, the gray water tank is located under the floor back there. That prevents it from hanging down too low. It's funny tho, I never noticed it as being a problem. Of course, no one is trying to sleep with their legs in the area.

Vicky, if you get stuck with no egg's in the area. Maybe just looking at a rv door (any brand) will help. You know San Antonio isn't all that far from Rice Tx where Casita's are made, you could always just go look thru a new one, should give you an idea.

The 13' Boler/clones all have a "step" as far as I know. Actually, it's not really a step, so much as it is that the center area of the floor is recessed into the frame, and the front, sides, and rear are at "normal" level on top of the frame. What they have done is drop the middle of the floor to get more headroom without making the overall trailer taller. They were able to do that in the center...

Sightings!

I am going to start calling this town Casitasite. Two today. The first was a 17 footer tugged by a white SUV with Thule carrier, Oregon plate, Sisters on the Fly sticker in the back window. I chased you, not to see who you were, but to tell you your gas cans were leaking! I turned off when you zipped towards the LTVA. On main street, at the big laundry place, a Casita attached to a white pick up truck. Idaho plate, I think.

Go for it Melissa, you will do fine! It sounds like your hubby has quite a few skills and I'm sure you do too. You can learn what you don't know as you go along. That's true of most things in life not just fiberglass trailers.
