Thread: New Cruise Ship...world's biggest on today's...

Started 1 month ago by William Taylor
On Yahoo news it shows the biggest cruise ship ever built...it holds 6,300 passengers and cost 1.5 billion bucks to build. It looks like a giant human zoo to me. You would have to pay me $10,000 to get me on that floating waste of money. Aside from parks and pools and merry go rounds it has a theater that seats 2000 happy campers. Disney afloat. What a prime incubator for the next malignant virus...

With global warming the arctic may be shredding bigger icebergs.

What, no cruisers here? I will be cruising within the next few weeks and cannot wait. We love cruising. The ships are amazing and every port is a whole new vacation.

I bet it's fun, Spinni...have a great time and take pics for us!

I'd rather crew as a Galley slave aboard my own Jesse Boyce then take a cruise as a passenger aboard one of them "Fut Palaces"! There's something to be said about working a small coaster Down Maine. When you're responsible for everything, from dumping the head to trimmin the glim in the Dietz anchor lantern, well, all of those beautiful places you visit seem to take on a more special ...

That boat certainly goes not look unsinkable. Can you imagine the amount of fuel it takes to keep it operating in a head wind? Just the power to keep the gyros going so she does not roll over would boggle my mind. The Queen Elizabeth which only holds 1,700 passengers (vs. this monster's 6,300), uses 633 tons of fuel per day. This ship most burn a couple of thousands tons per day. I just ...

My wife crossed to England on one of the Queens when she was a teenager. Waves came over the bow and smashed some superstructure. The passengers were a mess. That was rare though and I think the big passenger ships do mostly cruises now rather than winter Trans Atlantic passages at high speed. They can alter speed and course pretty much as they wish and choose kinder weather itineraries anyway. I am not counting anything the Fram might be up to.

Occasionally visiting a city for food, art, architecture, history, local culture and people watching that's what i like too...and cruisin' is a great way to do all that in many different places during one trip...and economically

With a burgeoning city aboard, wouldn't the ship have some kind of stabilizer system that would pop when necessary?
