This is another clone of the Oppo. The menus and the rear are the same.

Yup! That's an Oppo. But you know what? The more the merrier. It's good for Oppo, as it gets product out there. And it's good for BD and HiRez Audio, because some folks will be more comfortable buying a Cambridge Audio machine as they've heard the name.

Cambridge Audio has had a few DVD players made by Winbase Electronics, the Oppo affiliate that manufactures players and basically those players have been the same as the equivalent Oppo model. It is no surprise that Cambridge Audio, Lexicon and other companies are going to use Oppo player designs. Chris

That's really interesting... did they already announce a price for the CA version? I'm also wondering if they really just put another logo on the same machine, or if they buy the chassis and drive from Oppo and build their own audio and video circuitry around it... You would expect that there should be some incentive to buy the Cambridge Audio version rather than the Oppo other than the ...

I can only say the Cambridge Audio players based on Oppo designs I have read about in the past were determined to be nothing more than clones. I believe the Cambridge Audio DVD79 was a clone of the Oppo DV-971HD and the Cambridge Audio DVD89 was a clone of the Oppo DV-970H and the Cambridge Audio DVD99 was a clone of the Oppo DV-980H. I would expect the Cambridge Audio Blu-ray player to be an ...

This has been posted elsewhere (avsforum.com) but i thought I would add it here as well Quote: The forthcoming Cambridge Audio 650BD is based on the Mediatek MTK8520/MTK8575 chipset. Cambridge Audio of course have a long relationship with Mediatek having based our DVD89/99, DV30 and 540D V1 and V2 DVD players on various Mediatek platforms. When we decided to...

I would say his statement is misleading at best and incorrect at worse. I have read enough about some older Cambridge Audio Mediatek based universal players to question his meaning. AVSForums has discussion about the players and similarity to the Oppo players including statements that Oppo developed firmware was used to update the players by some because of the desire to have certain fixes that...
