Hello, I wanted to inform the community here that this new lens from Nikon, the AF-S 70-200 F/2.8G ED VRII, is available since yesterday (2009-11-06) in Belgium !! It arrived a few weeks earlier than planned and it's good news ! I pre-ordered it in July and I fetched it today morning. First impressions and sample pics follow... friendly, Pol

Have you tried the Nikon web sites? According to the nikon site, even the Australian one has the specs; 77mm thread.
For having the lens, yes I confirm what Jabs767 mentions it is indeed 77mm. I'm still busy discovering the high quality this glass is able to deliver, ...wonderful ! friendly, Pol
Can I ask you what you paid for it? I preordered mine in the Netherlands for EUR 2199, but the price at the same shop says 2299 already (some are selling it for 2499). I guess there is a lot of demand for it, and the price will stay up for quite some time. Does anyone know when it will be available in the Netherlands? Thanks, Henk
Hello Henk ! The price-list indicates an awfully high price for Belgium (2.661,-) but the VAT is higher than in the Netherlands... I paid mine a little more than what you did. You have also the opportunity to visit "Foto Konijnenberg bv" in Den Ham/Netherlands, this shop is well known in Belgium where they also have a shop in Turnhout. I guess Nikon will keep the price as high as possible for a...
Hi all, In order to illustrate how this new lens looks like, I join here below a pic I made this morning and I also post 2 pics I made with the lens outside (large to be able to view the details). http://www.geosolve.be/MOM/DSC-64271_cs3.jpg http://www.geosolve.be/MOM/DSC-64635_cs3.jpg http://www.geosolve.be/MOM/DSC-64729_cs3.jpg Happy viewing :o) friendly, Pol
Thank you apaflo for this explanation and very detailed reply, I admit I am not at all "technician" in this matter, I am much more concerned with the (heavy) use of these gears and lenses... friendly, Pol
Just wondering about those.... - Does this 70-200 VR II lens got the gold labe mark as "Nikon ED" - Where does this len is made from? - Can you please take a photo of both version I and II (with/without hood) coz I'd like to compare both in size Regards

Exactly! And you have an excellent point there too, because concern about whether the lens is actually 200mm or something less when close focusing is not of much value. The maximum reproduction ratio attainable is still the...
I wish I could go to Japan!! I agrees that prices in Benelux (when I also live) are crazy. For 1800 I would probably change mine as well. Francesco **************** webpage: http://www.thefoodtraveller.com/blog

Hi there, - do you have any expirience with the first 70-200 VR version ? If so , how does the new one compare ? - could you post some pictures taken with the new one to show us how far light fall-of and edge sharpness problems have been adressed .? Tnx
Thanks for updating us about the arrival in Belgium! :-) I have to say that the price difference between Benelux and Japan is unbelievable at the moment. The price in Japan will be around 1800 Euros after shortage, my colleague has one on order at a large store in Holland for I believe 2500 Euros, that is a huge difference. I will change my old one in this February in Japan, but im afraid I have to bring a few back as well :-) that is if I...
Obviously, I am waiting for one. So, I am curious when it starts to hit the USA. My hope is I am going to be on the first shipment ... I don't have any 70-200 f2.8 yet. So, if it based on need. or need "a lot of" help I should be high on the list. LOL HG
