I'am already a time busy to collect some data from fast computer systems to see where will come the new Nehalem - i7 core out with his speed.
A program that do real calculatings and use all the cores or/and threads at 100%!
For that i use a chess program and let computers calculate about 5-10min. most of the time is it less then 5min. and make my list with the highest nodes/s. at depth 21....

Thanks for sharing the results
its HT enabled, just look at what engine is used -> 8P
I also was kinda baffled how nehalem just rapes yorkfield in this test.

Yes that result i have also:
TogaII142JD-8cpu 21/46 03:54 172.582.215 5.891.624 +0.30 Nehalem @2.93Ghz
TogaII142JD-8cpu 21/50 04:47 164.070.553 4.562.555 +0.24 Nehalem @2.93Ghz HT off (cpu 50%)
I will put it also in my list (also interesting)
Core i7 processors (Bloomfield) will support two key technologies, which allows to optimize the energy consumption: Turbo mode and Integrated power gate. The first will allow to dynamically increase the frequency of the loaded cores in applications, badly optimized under multi-thread . In this case the energy consumption will not go beyond the limits TDP of those processor.
AND electric power ...
thanks for the reply
I read your post but what I meant was is there a difference
because as other site mentions and slide at Intel's IDF you can change the TDP limit yourself I am really interested with this one as it increase the clocks from 133mhz to 266mhz if the reports was to go by. but there is also reports about clock sync and those that work from Intel recommended not to change the ...

Sorry @@@@...the only thing i know is that HT was disabled and in the taskmanarger i could see 4cores 100% other 4threads at 0% ,cpu 51% and for the rest nothing changed.
For more details tests we have to wait when we can buy him.
We have a new number one -> Monstru He has run the test with the TogaII engine: 1) TogaII142JD-12cpu 21/49 01:35 109.964.595 14.194.821 +0.22 Gulftown 6c/12T @5.317Ghz (ES) DDR3: 8-9-8-24 Monstru New!! Now the NDA is lifted, more results will follow... List is updated! JP.

Shhhhh, that's a secret. We wouldn't want to actually say that it has a practical use. Seriosuly though. There are uses for these Extreme Edition CPU's. That's what I really like about this Chess program. It really Bullies the CPU, and these calcs show deficiencies that allow you to tune your system for real world stuff...not just a number. I have seen first hand that while tuning my system for this app, that other apps...
