Thread: Need help with an assignment. Make up c...

Started 2 months ago by KC Kennedy
A friend of mine is a make up artist and she's doing make up for pre-Carnival (Trinidad) party this weekend. There are going to be about 30-50 people she'll work with and she asked me to take photos of her applying make up for her future website. Please help me with advice on equipment, settings etc. I have an aps camera with an external flash, 50 1.4 and 16-80 zoom. What should I bring with me?...

put your camera in P for professional mode and take the professional shots your friend wants. Help me in return - I have a dinner party tomorrow for 50 people, what do I need to do to cook a 5 course sit down meal? Is my microwave oven and food vouchers going to be enough? I have like 6 plates and 3 pots to use on the stove - what heat do I need to set the stove to when cooking 1 minute ...

If you are, my sympathies. Chaos will reign, but it will be fun. Your best bet is to set yourself up somewhere, and have the make-up artist and the performers each come to your shooting station. And see if you can work with a big mirror set on some sort of stand. The idea is to see the real face of the performer, and the reflected face of the makeup artist. The way focus works with mirrors ...

I just had a quick look at your profile to see what experience you have and, although you haven't got a site linked, there was a gallery of your shots posted in one of your other messages: http://maracasny.com/gallery/latin31/index.htm Presuming you are the 'KC' as credited, then just repeat everything that you did for the club shots. They are excellent and I'm sure your friend would be ...

I'm not in TNT, I'm in NYC, this is a send-off party right before the carnival, it happens every year. My wife and most of my customers happen to be west indian (caribbean) so I got this gig. As I said before the client is a make-up artist and she needs shots for her future website. She does not care much about catwalk and performance photos, only applying make up. I just sold 5 lenses that I ...

Do what you normally do! Flash with bounce reflector is the only possibility. Umbrella is way, way too awkward and limited as things will probably move surprisingly fast: if there are 30 - 50 models to make-up she will have to work like lightning! The fact is, if your friend wants perfection to show her skills in fine detail then she will need to set up a careful studio shoot. As it is, this is ...

Here are some fun photos I took that night. Make up shots were nothing spectacular to look at. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1 037&message=33658468
