Otto, Yes according to Doug Kadow, president of the UDRRHS, it is being loaded in Oneonta today with transport to Arkville (actually it will be unloaded at Kelly Corners) on Tuesday, 5/12, though this is subject to change. I will post more here as I find out more. Ernie Hunt

Update is that the unit is being loaded in Binghampton on Monday the 10th and will head to Arkville once it gets its NYSDOT inspection. Most likely it will make the move to Kelly's Corners Wednesday or Thursday. Apparently the rig cannot travel legally on Friday. Will send more updates as I get them. Below is the rig that is being used for the move: EH

I got permission to go beyond the platform at Armory Square to get this shot during the 2007 Balloon Festival. They were running the RDC's this weekend. Very cool little locomotive... lots of character.

The locomotive shown on this tractor trailer in this photo doesn't look like N.Y.O.& W No.116,the color looks black to me. Right you are, Tom! The locomotive in the picture is MPA 82. But Ernie posted the photo to show the kind of tractor trailer ("rig") that will be used for the move. -otto-

I did on one rare occation get a chace to take pics of 116 parked behind the Mall I want to say in the late 90's maybe early 2000. I don't know what became of them photos but some day I'm bound to find all the negatives which I plan to have put on CD.

Wouldn't it be a bigger shame to have it stuffed and mounted somewhere? Landlocked or not, at least it will be kept operating... I agree with Otto, this will keep it out of the scrap yard, hopefully for good! Not to mention the fact that it's now 100% accessible for everyone's enjoyment....
One of the photos shows 1 roller bearing truck on a trailer. Dose this unit have 1 roller bearing and one friction bearing truck or a set of friction trucks? Its been a while sents I saw this unit. Both trucks are roller bearing 116 truck 1.jpg (135.62 KiB) Viewed 192 times 116 truck 2.jpg (151.66 KiB) Viewed 193 times Also saw this cool cast iron milepost in the weeds. No city shown. D&H? This was under the I-81 bridge near the track...
Thanks for the comments about the pictures. The shadow from the 81 bridge was the problem. Yes it has roller bearings. It has to be trucked into Arkville, DURR, since they are landlocked. They could have moved it by rail to Oneonta, then loaded it on a truck, but why. Brian
Im pretty sure the track in some sections that it would have to get there is washed out and very unusable. Im not sure what sections but im sure someone will fill in the spots where they cant use it... There is a post about Catskill Mt. news and I think there are pics that show the bridges and stuff it would not be able to get over.
