Thread: NWR: Hot yoga

Started 1 month, 1 week ago by TatiMarie
Have any of you ladies tried this? I have two friends that LOVE this so it has made me more curious about taking a class or two. I've been warned that the first time can be a little overwhelming (and you have to get used to the smell of everyone around you sweating so much?) but my friends think I will be okay since I routinely work out 3x a week. I mainly want to try it because it's supposed ...

I have tried it and my DH and I love it. I was so suprised that he is more flexible than me. The first class we went to, we didn't know what to expect. You feel like you shed about 5 lbs of water just sweating. There are a couple of poses, like the camel pose, that is supposed to open your heart chakra and it makes you extra sweaty. Drink a lot of water before the class. I would freeze...

A few of my friends do it, but I'm concerned that with the heat and profuse sweating I'd break-out. I noticed this with one of my friends...anybody else experience that? My Bio Wedding Slideshow

My friends that do it tell me their skin has cleared up a lot and they have a "glow" since you're supposedly sweating out a lot of toxins, but I could believe the sweat could make someone break out as well. Maybe if they have sensitive skin or the skin isn't cleaned properly right after and all the sweat can clog the pores? hmm.

I LOVE IT!!! Its great! You really have to be okay with other peoples sweat and during busy classes you are pretty close to all the other people. I feel great afterwards... Its really relaxing and calming but a great workout too. I never noticed any breakouts from it. I recommend Om on the Range on Ravenswood and Grace, its clean and smells a bit better than other studios I have been to...

I'll just have to try it for myself and see. I can say that my friends look fantastic since they've been doing it. They were always in good shape, but now they are slender. My Bio Wedding Slideshow

I have done this and I liked it, but I'm a pilates girl through and through. My advice is to make sure that you dress warmly after the class even though you may be burning up. Some friends and I went in the middle of winter and I was stupid and didn't put all my layers back on because I was so hot, so my muscles tensed in the cold and I was sore for days. Jess & Lane in the ...
