Well, I guess it doesn't matter now, the 6.4L is being dumped for the new 6.7L Scorpion. man, I would hate to own a 6.4L....

Ok here is the awaited write up.
Sounds like Ford is going to use a Bosch Common Rail set up. That's a plus.
But it's still a V-8 engine design that looks overly complicated. It has ALUMINUM heads. Plastic 2 piece oil pans?...

I agree. Anything in 'V' configuration is too as far as I'm concerned.
" The Scorpion has two separate cooling systems, each with its own radiator and water pump. " There's a novel idea to keep things simple!
chaikwa.
I guess IH and Ford are done. I am very surpised Ford is building it's own Diesel. Their first? Boy, don'y you want to own the first one? At least GM went to Isuzu,a company that has built a few million diesels of all sizes. Even at that, it's taken a while to get a relaible motor. The emisions have added to the complexity and even Cummins has had issuse with the 6.7.
I thank God I have a 5.9, ...

Running close to 600hp on a tuner, intake and exhaust, and STOCK tranny isn't something I'd call an embarassment. That engine has potential, its a shame ...

Those were some nice looking trucks. Keith
Seems like the bugs are coming out on these newer motors as the miles get up there...Curious to see if they make the 500K miles like some of the cummins motors..
2100 is the rpm you want to be at for towing. If you go below that, you might have some issues with EGT's. I may put some 4:56's in my truck later on when all I'm doing is towing my fifth wheel. What I need is 4:30's. No one makes them. 4:10 only gets me 200 rpm above the 3:73's I currently have. Need to get the load off that 48RFE tranny to make it last. Less tranny temp, lower egts. Good luck with your project. Dave
not bad, but i would rather have a CXT, personally. As for its purpose... not much other than pullin a trailer and have room for the whole family in the truck
Pat, I will keep my eyes open on this one and if it turns out I can help, you can keep the $500.00, I hate thieves and we all need to stick together and fight scum like this.
