THE ENGLISH FOUND A BURIED SPACESHIP THAT CAME TO EARTH MILLIONS OF YEARS AGO. INSIDE ARE FOSSIL BUGS (THEY LOOK LIKE GRASSHOPPERS) SPACESHIP IS MAGNETIC AND DRIVES PEOPLE CRAZY. IN THE END SOME GUY CLIMBS A CRANE TOWER AND SWINGS IT INTO A RISING PSYCHIC FIGURE OF SATAN AND SAVES THE WORLD. I THOUGHT IT WAS 20,000,000 MILES TO EARTH BUT NOPE. THATS ANOTHER MOVIE, ALSO ONE THAT I LIKE. CAN ANYONE...

Quatermass and the Pit (1967) ---------------------- first title that appeared when googling "martians london unearthed" PS: Of course I knew the movie and knew these were Martians (just had myself forgotten the title) so it was easy :D

Yes, these two above are absolutely correct, and the title you were thinking of is "Five Million Years to Earth" which is what this film was originally released under in the US. ||||||||||||||| ||||| | |||

Hi Dianne, I believe the film your looking for is called "Quatermass and the Pit" and was made in 1967. Here is the imdb url for the film:- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062168/. I can't think of any other film starring fossilised demon grasshoppers from mars!! Hope this helps. Regards, Martin in Manchester

Of the three theatrical Quatermass films, this is the best, technically and as a screenplay. The idea that a bunch of Martians did some genetic engineering on earth in prehistoric times and split mankind into two opposing factions that we call good and evil, is a wonderful concept. For the most part the sfx hold up, including the final electrically charged scene on the crane. Damn shame, ...
