I have been enjoying a little time off and decided I would fix the oil leak that caused me to buy the Freightliner FL112. The first picture shows where the tiniest crack in the wrong place could get very expensive very quickly. On this particular model there is a high volume low pressure oil pump mounted on the crankshaft (gear pump) that feeds oil to the high pressure oil pump after ...
I lost interest the minute I saw a V8 and words like QUOTE On this particular model there is a high volume low pressure oil pump mounted on the crankshaft (gear pump) that feeds oil to the high pressure oil pump after sending it through an oil cooler. All of this takes place in the timing (front) cover. You must be REALLY bored John. I would have scavenged the engine out of that ...
Dave, I figured you would want to come help! It is after all the best V8 diesel ever built. That truck and that engine paid for our house, a 5er, and two vehicles. I can't really say too much bad about the old truck it has been a good one for over 300K mi! The old Dodge is still going strong, we even put a few cosmetic touches on it!
John, No, you can buy them already built too cheap for me to build another one. I had 40hr in the last one I built, I had that one bought and shipped for $667. We would have to be really good friends for me to make someone a bumper like that for $16.75hr and free materials. The truck is not mine either, the owner works for me when we are off and with me on certain jobs. It was my way of...
Pipe - I see the 2 x hole for the front hitch. Your not planning an other incident are you?? I would think that there would be a more permanant solution with the warm weather and all. That looks commercial , not a pipe special. Sort of a double post there. I forgot to post and ran to get the wife and then posted (delayed).

Bill, I brought up the idea of building a hitch to pull it with and the owner respectfully declined, go figure! What give it away I didnt build it? Maybe all the patience it would have required if I didn't have a break for 1/8" plate? I installed it in 15min with regular hand tools, so they are better than I am!
It is better than the tin foil that is factory, BUT it would be 1/4" plate, tube would schedule 80 with air fittings, winch with fairlead guides, driving and fog lights built in, pulling / tow bar provisions, and weigh about 350 / 400 lbs. It would take a couple of hydralic jacks to put in place. And probably not have a sticker on the top bar. And my buddy has the same one on his truck....
I wish it was a s simple as JB weld! It is actually on the front cover that is a PITA to get off. I will get some more pics for it to make better sense. I have a spare engine that I have been meaning to rebuild and I am stealing the cover off of it.
Dave, The trailer is a barter deal, I traded my old 8 lug Chevy wheels and tires for use of it. Worked out great, I didn't want to load them anyway. This post has been edited by Pipeline Mechanic : Yesterday, 11:22 AM
Maybe he'll need that set of chevy 8 lugs I have after all . Thanks for the update, it is nice to know I'm not the only one who can't make it out of Montana without blowing a tire on something. EVERY trip, and I mean EVERY trip I've had southbound out of Billings had rsulted in a rim slapper somehow or another
QUOTE (Dave K. @ Sep 8 2009, 08:21 PM) Save travels John, watch that rear view on the off ramps. I'll hope to catch up with you for a happy meal somewhere. (I'm thinking a nice ribeye or fillet cut actually), we can stop at the gas station to grab a substitute toy for the boys John, Samantha and their parking lot on wheels just departed Fargo, east bound and down, so far only one trailer tire to repair, (Of course...
Heh, yer one of those neighbors....... I found out I have two neighbors that pack Case keys as well. Seems like every time I went to use my backhoe the seat was already warm . That's why she takes a KW key now! That fixed that, but it still seems every time we do something together they end up in the seat and I'm the one in the hole with the shovel . Setting a hood on your own is still enough for me to do the same...

Funny you mention that jack, we had an old one on the farm that you could move loaded freight cars with but I bought one recently and the thing bent like a pretzel when I tried to jack a post out of the ground with it! Everything is made overseas now and steel might as well come stamped with Toyo Rubber Company. -------------------- Today is just the tomorrow you worried about yesterday! Pipe: If you are coming down I-39 here in IL and need a place to stay overnight we are just 5 mile off 39 about 2 hours S of the WI border. Straight west of the Caseys in Wenona 4.25 miles. Shoot me a PM if this "stop" works out for you. Jeff
