We had a Saturday playdate there are it was like a casting call. I'd never seen a school conduct a play group with so many children!

The playdate is pretty standard. You go into the classroom with your kid; tables are set up with different activities (e.g., play doh, paper and markers); you get your kid situated and (hopefully) separate with no issues; the kids listen to a story, do a drawing, play with blocks, etc. while you go into another room and chat with Mr. Baldwin, the school head. I want to say six or seven kids each for JK and K. They did both at the same time.

So about 13 dcs? that is a lot. And hard to distinguish JK and K applicants, I'd think.

I think they split the kids into two groups and have two playdates going in separate classrooms? I also recall other large playdates (maybe as much as a dozen kids or so), though I don't know whether the kids were split up into smaller groups on those playdates.

I think it's great they have a Saturday option. Nice for parents who work, and says they care about diversity and working parents. Better for the dc too.
