Thread: My OPOD Leaks out the bottom! Suggestions?

Started 1 month, 2 weeks ago by Diggadonkey
Recently the flow of water on my OPOD has intermittently stopped when I try to brew a cup. It just makes it's usual brewing noises, but doesn't actually push any water out, with or without a pod (yes, it's full of water). Water WILL flow out if I press the manual override in the back though. But also, when it does this, it seems to slowly leak water out from underneath the machine all ...

first check and see if the upper screen is damaged or clogged. If that is not it then call Grindmaster.

Where is the upper screen located. Do I have to perform a bit of surgery to access it? I love taking things apart.

The upper screen sits right over the pod when brewing. BUT, if you have not descaled, that should be your first step. see here

I haven't descaled it in a LONG time. Called GrindMaster and described the symptoms, and they basically said to try descaling it too. I was hoping they would have said, "oh sure, we've seen this problem. The such and such tube is probably clogged bla bla. Descaling it should do the trick."

Follow-up in case anyone cares, or runs into this symptom themselves. Descaling did nothing to help. Water just leaks out the bottom all the time. Took off the casing and watched things in action while brewing. Discovered that water is leaking out of the very base of the water heater assembly. A weak spot seems to have developed where it's sealed along the bottom, and you can see the water ...

Sorry to hear that. I take it Grindmaster won't help at all since the warranty is presumably expired? About the replacement, a refurbished Bunn from Baronet would be cheaper than the replacement part you mentioned, and it comes with a 2-year warranty. Switching to k-cups will just make you more depressed (lol).

I got one of the refurbs from Baronet and it works great. I don't think you'd be disappointed. Having never used the K cups,I can't comment on the Keurig.

If you PM me your email address, I can send you the OPOD breakdown I got from Grindmaster.
