Re: My Escort MK.2 Cosworth GRP.4 spec. 56k beware Gary, 1st thing for the grp.4 shell would be finding a very good shell, then all the fab parts, arches, tubs, cage and then all the welding costs etc....as for the 4x4 car, rusty mk.2 shell, just good rear panels, cut complete floor out leaving bulkhead in,put 4x4 floor in place, weld up,cage up...job done. The most i have been quoted to do the job but with no cage is £3k, cage would probably be...

Re: My Escort MK.2 Cosworth GRP.4 spec. 56k beware cant see how a Gp4 shell would cost more than a 4x4 shell..its only welding in bits that are off the shelf ..couple of 50mm wide slots, cut the diff and gearbox tunnels out, weld in some flat steel.. get an off the shelf cage and put it in.. 4x4 .. raise chassis rails front and rear, or weld an entire floor in, and modify the inner wings and turrets to take sierra struts .. then mod the cage...

Re: My Escort MK.2 Cosworth GRP.4 spec. 56k beware From my experiance with my old rwd cossie mk1 escort and my rwd saff the escort had loads more grip,3 doors and saffs seem to be a lot more tail happy prob due to the shit rear beams When i did the retro ford thrash it was hard to get the mk1 back end out as it just wanted to grip,i did have 245 tyres, i can only imagine what the grip would have been like with slicks!,if you think the mk2 is...

Re: My Escort MK.2 Cosworth GRP.4 spec. 56k beware Some super wide wheels with slicks (see al's zakspeed wheels ) should be ample grip if your not driving like a complete twat Also i think this shell would be worth more when selling on as its in great demand for the rally boys, and is eligible, unlike a 4x4 shell, not sure about circuit racing but a 4x4 shell would be worth as much as the scrap value you'd get for weighing it in, in...

Re: My Escort MK.2 Cosworth GRP.4 spec. 56k beware A well set up linked mk2 is so easy to drive fast on a track and getting the tail out is all part of the fun. I can see no way that grafting a 4x4 sierra under an escort is gonna make it either safer or more fun and I'd be very suprised if its quicker. Both Gary and myself know someone who had a 4x4 sierra under an anglia shell and on the limits it was scary and hard to catch so he then...
