Thread: My $.02 on VS.

Started 1 month, 3 weeks ago by DownTheLine
So I got another one of the APDCs and I strung it with ALU Power in the mains and VS gut int he crosses. I have played about 4 hours with this set-up. I noticed it frayed very soon, but that was expected. To me it feels kind of mushy and I don't get as much power as my normal set-up full ALU Power. I also added almost .4 oz of lead to the frame so could this be the cause for ...

I got VS in one of my Rebs and I don't really like it. First time I played with it (full bed), I thought it was really good, and then I picked up another Reb I strung with M2 Pro and it had a much better feel for me anyway. I didn't get the enjoyment from the nat gut that I have with the M2 Pro, but am reluctant to admit it is overrated and cut it out (due tu expense)...

First of all, if you string VS NATTY GUT that low, you will get a soft feel from it. If you're used to poly, to get the same SBS - STRING BED STIFFNES, you need to string the VS NATTY GUT at at least 60 lbs, if not 62 lbs. Come back, when you have set your natty gut up correct and teel how it plays. Besides that, the Babolat Aero Pro is not a racquet suited for natural gut - it has an ...

I agree with Club, as gut feels great at a higher tension. 56 lbs is very low for nat. gut. Nat. gut plays well at a high tension.

If cost wasn't an issue, w/o a doubt most people would be using VS, but there will always be a few exception

I string my VS Team 10-12 lbs higher than my polys. I like my VS at low 70's.

What would VS feel like at 51lbs?

So you're saying that the potential for power and spin is greater than a higher tension if you are able to control the trampolining and slingshotting?

i normally use alu mains at 54 and a multi cross at 56. when i went with full NG i strung it at 58. it was great. not too stiff and not too mushy. but at the end of the day, it's all personal preference so you have to find what tension works for you regardless of what we all say here
