(charter) we have a cable modem. which would be more economical/feasible: getting a second cable modem for the bedroom and using ethernet cable to hook into the BR player and the modem.... Getting a repeater to use ethernet cable to hook into the BR ...

You could also buy a wireless router and "turn off" the routing. It would act similar to a repeater and give you that ethernet hookup you need. It will also boost your wireless signal in the area. You could get one for about $30-$40 one-time fee.

Generally you can only have 1 cable modem per account. Will the USB port on the BR actually utilize a wireless adapter? It might just be for media storage type things. If you could run a cable to it that is obviously the best approach.

so, scott - do you agree with laddhorns approach? Is it easy to "shut off routing"?

conj replied 1 month, 1 week ago
all right - I did a little reading on making a router into a repeater, and it looks like I'll get frustrated enough to throw it out the window.... so I am looking at getting this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=gla nce

I bought the thing in post 11. works perfectly. Plugged in the ethernet cable to pick up the wireless, and use the USB to power it... so if blu ray is off, it is off. was easy to set up - directions were much clearer than the reviews indicated. Have a second USB port on the front of the blu ray if I need it. if I ever needed a second one, I would buy the "open box" from newegg ... now that I know what I am dealing with

You can hook up more than one device to that access point. You would just need a switch. Those can be had for $15 or so.
