Started 1 month ago by CaliMTBR

What we would like to know since we are not from Seattle is, what are the best neighborhoods to live in that are close to mountain biking? From our brief searches it looks like St. Edward Park has decent ...

Have your wife apply to St. Joseph's hospital in Bellingham -- ten minutes pedaling from almost anywhere in town to one of the best trail networks on the west coast. No Seattle traffic. Problem solved. Otherwise, I think Dwight is right. You're either close to downtown Seattle or closer to city parks with trail systems. Might just have to choose.

I hope you enjoy overcast skies and rain.

Your better off living near the job then living near the trails. Commuting in Seattle ranks as one of the all time suckola activities. When I lived up there I lived in the Fremont area and biked to work. It's much easier to bike to work 5 days a week and drive to the trailheads on the weekend than to drive to work 5 days a week and ride to the trailheads. That said, it wasn't that far of a ride ...

Oregon is great. Seattle has lots of rain. What is the issue?

SEA_MTBR replied 1 month ago
There are a couple of clubs in the area. Evergreenmtb has a pretty good website with links to a lot of trails in the area. www.evergreenmtb.org

Thanks for the help. We have grandparents near Mount Vernon, so that will come in handy when it comes to riding. Also, at the moment, Seattle seems to have a more robust job market than Portland as all you unemployed mountain bikers are moving there just to be unemployed. Could be worst than clouds and rain, could be more like IED's falling from the sky as our current job includes vacations to Southwest Asia.
