Thread: Missed the Levemir shot last night!

Started 2 months, 2 weeks ago by Mom2Kathy
It was bound to happen at least once, I guess. Bad Mom award to me right now. Her normal dose is 2 units of Levemir at bedtime. It's now 6:15 am. Should I just give her 1 unit? Then at bedtime tonight go back to 2 units? Her blood sugar right now is 207 - not as bad as I thought it would be.

Does she get a split dose Vicky? or all in one. Im thinking that should be fine but check with the endo. She may be a bit high today but back to normal tomorrow. And yes we all forget stuff like that

No split dose - just 2 at bedtime. I think I'll just do the 1 unit and see how it goes. Yeah, she'll probably drift higher today, but all should be well by tomorrow. I hope! Even though her sugar right now isn't that bad, I feel bad for her. But at least it's not THAT high - I figured it would be over 300 or something!

if you dont do a split dose and you want to give 1 now i would probably just give one tonight and then go back to 2 tomorrow ...she should be ok if you just wait till tonight to give the 2 she might be a little hi but it still lingers in your system a bit ...when i forget mine its easier for me to just deal with the hi's and do the next shot

Thank you ladies! I gave her one unit. We'll see how her day goes. The idea of one unit tonight might be the way to go, otherwise she'll be stacked for the first twelve hours of the night dose. I'll make sure she checks herself a lot today so I can see if there are any issues. Thanks again!

Or so we think. Her carb ratios are still high too - 1:24. Endo considered changing the Levemir...
