Thread: Milks in......Hows the BF going ?

Started 3 weeks, 5 days ago by doodlegirl
Milks come in today, ow, ow ow but god am I glad as Gruff seems to be a little starver and is loving breastfeeding. Nipples are a bit sore still so hoping the lanisinh is working. Having to sit up to feed of a night on haemorrhoids is not good, but need to get my latch right or otherwise I always seem to suffer with cracked nipples. Anyone else BF, hows it going? Angiexxxxxx

Hi Angie I am bf and its seems to be going well must be ds has put on 1lb in 1 week lol. Only problem I am having at the moment is he has started to pull as if he is milking a cow when he has been feeding for a bit lol (starting to get a bit sore) so I am taking him off and putting him back on when he does this and see if he gets the hint that he's not to do it. Also bf has done wonders for ...

Glad you are both getting on so well with breastfeeding - well done! I was so disapointed that I couldnt feed Bailey in the end.  Because of her difficult start and jaundice she wouldnt take my milk at all and we had to give her formula in hospital to avoid dehydration.  Even me squeezing every last drop of colostrum into a syringe for her wouldnt tempt her :-(  I've tried again a few times ...

((((((hugs)))))) Claire, I know you're disappointed but please don't beat yourself up about not being able to BF Bailey- the little love didn't have the easiest start & you really did try your best to give her your own milk. Once again, I hold up the lively, vivacious, intelligent, healthy DD as an example that formula is not poison - Bailey will be just fine :) Of course, well done to all...

Hiyah Karen, Its always good to take em off id they hurt you and put hem back on again, nothing worse than a chewed nipple! Am glad my milk's in as Gruff has been chomping down and not getting much so now my boobs are a bit fuller am hoping those nipples will heal a bit. My after pains have been awful this time round but my stomach is disappearing by the day so I guess its doing me good! ...

Oh Claire, HUgest Hugs from me, Im so sorry it didnt start as you wanted honey. If you were determined you may still have time but you need to speak to a lactation consultant asap, you may be able to re lactate but it will take work. (Im sure you know this anyway so I hope Im not lecturing you :P) If you choose formula, dont think for a second nor beat yourself up that you didnt try, you're ...

LOL! Ive resorted to my DH's t shorts for the time being as my boobs dont fit anything this time round! My nipples always hurt until my milk comes in adn this is no3 for BF !!! I think its just my bad eyesight and Im a lazy latcher too but you make sure you keep posting and keep that baby latched on whenever it wants to feed and you'll be flying. Huge hugs but be gentle as my boos hurt! ...

Hi Angie, My baby hasn't even engaged as yet, but sitting up to feed at the beginning certainly sounds familiar, even though I know Matilda could feed lying down as she did as soon as she was born. Sounds like it's all going well though. Wendy xx

Hiya, Evie is taking to BFing really well.  I'm so happy as I didn't manage to feed DD1. The first day I got my latch wrong too and ouch ouch ouch my nipples were sore and bleeding.  The midwives helped me out though and it's going much better now.  She lost 10 oz in her first few days but has put most of that back on now.  The mw said it was my diet, I wasn't having anough calories but now I...

Jessica has taken to breast feeding. Its strange as I bottle fed the other 5, but after Jessica was admitted to SCBU, I was more determined than ever to continue breast feeding. I set my alarm on my mobile to wake me every 3 hours to express during the night, (although i didnt really sleep as she was 2 floors away). I have lost 17lb in 5 days, although I am not sure if that is down to breast ...

Am reviving this one as I've been trying to reply to this but Zoe keeps wanting a feed! I'm breastfeeding (day 7!!) and am perservering but I am useless at latching her on! I've been to BF clinic twice and they just shove her on fine but I'm  a total chicken... so I have two rather sore nipples, luckily one is always worse than the other so they're not both bad at the same time. I've been ...

Hello, No I don't think you did it too early at all- its just that DD1 had 3 weeks exclusive BF so I've set myself that goal for Isaac. Its mad really as DD1 was literally starving for those 3 weeks that I held out for, but still its fixed in my head that I have to do the same for Isaac as I did for DD1! He is having his first bottle of EBM tomorrow night (sat) and am petrified that he won't take it! Cross you fingers for me...

Also loving breastfeeding, I'm findin it really easy this time - Imogen just seems to be pretty chilled about everything which makes latching on easy. I remember being really sore with Alice but touch wood doing OK this time. I'm a week in and still have a tummy though - was hoping I'd have shrunk more by now! Kat x
