There's a saying that originated in the wild, wild west, and if our memory serves us correctly, it goes a little something like this: "If you can't convince the cops to do their jobs, just install as many speed bumps as humanly possible." Oddly enough, that very mantra has mirrored reality ...
I hate speed bumps. Speed bumps should be designed for the speed of the road. If the road limit is 30. Why do I have to slow down to 5mph so I don't destroy my car.
Could be a good way to solve that problem, depending on the safety of these. What happens if your doing the speed limit and the thing stays erect.

The same thing that happens if you drive over a normal hump at 30 of course

Absolutely spot on; the speed limit on ALL residential roads should be reduced to 20mph and intelligent stingers ...

I'm more in favour of drivers being educated to judge the speed on the situation and not take speed limits as a speed to set themselves at and not go any lower/higher. My area is riddled with stupid 20 Mph zones with bumps everywhere. My alloys will be square before much longer.

Same can be said for your 'omgs make everyone do 10mph anywhere' statements. :/
