Thread: Maternity Pay - Cant get any other Help

If she is a lone parent, she should be entitled to a bit of help from Housing benefit. ALso, once the baby arrives she will get more tax credits. Without knowing her exact circumstances it's hard to advise. How many children does she have, does she have a partner, what maternity pay is she getting, SMP or MA etc.

Is she a single parent? She can put a claim in for HB and CTB which will help reduce her costs for those depending on her income

Isn't the dad around/paying maintenance?

My sister is on maternity leave, she is not planning on going back to work. Just now she is getting maternity pay and her tax credits, she is paying rent and council tax. Because of this she is left with next to nothing to live on. She has been told she cant claim income support unitl her maternity pay stops, but this will not happen until febuary. She is constantly on the phone getting different answers. Is there a benefit helpline?? Thanks
