Was rough-going for our people, for sure. Sad story. Grandfather worked in a factory he called "The Pit" outside of Boston. But the job was enough to allow him to buy a house and support a family of 8--that's more than an immigrant today can hope for. Not quite a land of opportunity.

These are the sorts of heroes on whose backs, and souls, our country was built. I don't doubt that many of them were murdered, as the story suggests.
