hey all,
I'm looking at the idea of getting a manual rack for my 94'. couple questions first though.
First, any experience good or bad?
Second, theres two options, 20:1 or 15:1? whats the difference?
thanks for your time in advance
I should be a little clearer. Im aware 15:1 is a quicker ratio therefore less turns, but is that a good idea to have.
as well keeping in mind it gunna be a street and weekend drag car
I have the 20:1 manual rack in my '89 and it's been great. The effort is high at parking lot speeds, but once you're moving it's fine. At the time I got mine, the 20:1 was the only option and it does require noticeably more turns of the steering wheel to get around corners. If I had to do it over again, I'd go for the 15:1.
I agree with LX89. If it aint broke, dont fix it! On a street car, power steering is nice to have. Very little HP and minimal weight savings with a manual setup.
