Thread: Magna & Sheffield Wildlife Trust Photography competition 27/06 - 16/10

Started 5 months, 1 week ago by cosywolf
Sheffield Wildlife Trust have run photography competitions in the past and have always had an excellent response from Sheffield Forummers. This time we've been lucky enough to be able to run it in partnership with Magna alongside the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, which is very exciting and provides plenty of inspiration (wish I could enter ) Children are encouraged to enter,...

This is also absolutely brilliant. I've got into photography over the last few years and these pictures are truly superb. Very inspirational and rather jealous of some of the location's. Well recommended!!!

Well, it's nearly over....16th October. But there's still time to enter. We really, really need more entries from young people and children. If you know of any budding young wildlife photographers, please let them know about this opportunity. The categories are the same for everyone, split into under 16s and over 16s. This is a more direct link if you want to enter: http://www....

Out of curiosity, do you have permission or have you paid to use the two top images on your competition page as I recognise one [a winner of prestigious wildlife competition] and there is no credit or atribution to either of the photographers? I should also point out that a UK firm recently had to pay out very large sums of money for using images on their website without permission.

I'm afraid it's unlikely that will do, as image usage will be only in conjunction with promotion of that particular exhibition and certainly not for another seaprate competition. No different in one sense in paying to go in Magna once and then assuming you never have to pay again for repeat visits.

I've passed on your concerns. In the meantime, don't forget to vote

Perhaps a course in assetiveness would help with turning down projects that don't pay/pay enough. If you're so ready to turn down reciprocal work, you will be missing a trick. There is far more to it than credits and by lines. But that is your choice, of course. The successful charity that is run entirely by volunteers is a very rare beast. If you want to do your best for a cause you need skilled workers. Skilled workers don't...
